It's sad news, but it's linked to another story we reported on AM a few days ago . The purchase of the Williams team by an investment group will see Williams leave F1 . At least the Williams name, because although the team will remain, Claire Williams and her father, Sir Frank Williams, are saying goodbye to the sport they've been involved with for 43 years. The only thing that will remain in Formula 1 is the brand, the team name.
The investment group that bought the team will keep it. We don't know for sure if it's due to a clause the Williams family forced into the contract to ensure the name's continuation, or if the investment group itself wants to preserve this legendary brand and everything it represents. Either way, it will be sad to say goodbye, and nothing will ever be the same at the Grove-based team.

Moreover, it will happen quite imminently. There's no need to wait until the end of the season. This weekend's Italian Grand Prix will be the last in which the family is involved with the team. This is the family's decision, as they leave the Formula 1 circus and Claire Williams' position as deputy team principal, a role now held by the American firm Drillton Capital.
Claire confirmed: “ With the team’s future secured, it’s the right time for us to step away from the sport. As a family, we have always prioritized Williams . We have demonstrated this with our recent actions and the strategy review process, and we believe now is the time to pass the torch and give the new owners the opportunity to take the team into the future. We have been in the sport for over four decades. We are incredibly proud of our records and the legacy we leave behind. We have always been here for the passion and the joy of racing, so this is not a decision we have taken lightly, but one made after much reflection as a family. ”
Goodbye Williams!
