We want to see more “retro” frames like the one on the VW ID 2.all

Volkswagen retro media screen

Volkswagen presented a few days ago what, according to what he says, will really be the electric vehicle for the people: the Volkswagen ID 2.all. Discuss the signature that will be available in a couple of years for less than 25.000 euros. Actually, this car is not the final production model, but a prototype very close to its final phase. Be that as it may, and once all its virtues have been discovered, we cannot deny that we have loved its retro instrument panel.

To create a closer bond with potential customers, many car brands are looking back several decades in time. Without a doubt is a good way to touch "the little heart". Proof of this is the electric Renault 5 or, without leaving the company itself Volkswagen, the ID Buzz.

The fact is that we have mainly seen this retro “hook” in the forms of the bodywork or in the commercial denominations. Because yes, I remember that a fully electric Ford Mustang is also on the market –the Mach-e– which to tell the truth has little to do with the original concept of the Mustang.

When VW showed the interior of its ID 2 prototype all days ago, something caught our attention. The multimedia system, in combination with the digital instrument panel has a display mode that we have loved. This mode is called "Retro Mode”. Change the theme of the central touch screen and, as we said, also the instrument panel.

When activated, the instrument display changes completely and Projects a frame like that of the first-generation Volkswagen Golf. Well, it's not exactly the same, because among other things we don't have a rev counter, but a battery potentiometer. In any case, that wink has made us fall in love. It also shows a digital clock between both dials and other witnesses seen in the first generations of the Golf.

The thing does not stop there, because the Volkswagen ID 2.all has another display mode for the multimedia system and even older instrument panel, evoking in this case another great myth of the German firm, the original volkswagen beetle.

It may seem like something of little importance when it comes to getting into a car. In fact, it is not something very relevant. But I have no doubt that that little nod to the ancestors will attract a lot of attention from potential buyers of this electric model. Because, let's face it, we all like these little details. Will they be enough to make a difference?
