Volkswagen has not yet launched any electric vehicle with its MEB platform. However, she already wants other brands also end up using it for your models. The German manufacturer has been working on this platform for years and seems to want to monetize its efforts by selling the results to the competition.
Over the years, Volkswagen has been introducing a number of concepts called 'IDs' that will arrive at street level thanks to this new platform. The first will be Compact ID with a size similar to that of the Golf. The brand has also presented its sedan ID Vision, Crozz ID, as well as the Buzz ID, which will be built in Hannover in 2022. They have yet to officially reveal the production version of any of those vehicles, but the first is expected to go into production later this year.

Michael Jost, Head of Volkswagen Brand Strategy, commented: “In this area, I believe we are the industry benchmark in terms of cost and scalability. The executive confirmed that "Volkswagen is already in several conversations with its competitors." He did not name any specific car manufacturer, but Ford is rumored to be considering using its platform. Last month, Ford and Volkswagen announced a partnership that includes the possibility of collaborating on electric vehicles.
Volkswagen's decision has raised certain blisters, as it is a movement that could homogenize the sector. In this way, competition in the development of technologies could be limited in an industry in full development such as that of electric cars.
