Toyota puts on sale the update of one of the cars that has raised the most expectations in recent years; at least among sports cars. We refer to the GR Toyota Yaris, a very high-performance utility vehicle with all-wheel drive variable and dynamic capabilities that are truly surprising for a vehicle of its size.
La 2024 GR Yaris range lands with technical improvements, design tweaks and a more striking technological contribution, but the focus remains on the driving experience in the purest WRC style, with a very compact and high-performance vehicle. Of course, it is also fair to say that the price has skyrocketed considerably.
As Toyota explains, some of the performance improvements incorporated in this new GR Yaris come in the brakes, with better cooling after expanding the openings of the bumpers and the ducts themselves, as well as in engine cooling thanks to the use of an extra radiator. By the way, the main radiator grille becomes steel for easier repair in the event of an impact.
One of the things we liked least about the previous GR Yaris was the driving position. We haven't been able to get on yet and we can't give an opinion, but the Japanese brand states that They have reduced the seat height by 25 mm. The dashboard has also been revised and is specific for this sporty variant, changing some buttons and controls for main functions.
More power and automatic transmission
Returning to the dynamic improvement, the 2024 version of this small sports utility vehicle improves the performance of its 1.6 turbo engine. And this three-cylinder increases its power and torque by 19 HP and 30 Nm, now reaching the 280 hp and 390 Nm of torque.
Said engine comes standard associated with a six-speed manual gearbox, but be careful now too can be combined with a transmission Automatic 8-speed called “GAZOO Racing Direct”.
The range is structured in a finish and then we have three optional packages. Serial It already comes with a Torsen differential, sports suspension, red calipers, 18-inch alloy wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and imitation leather upholstery with gray stitching. Basically this access variant is like the Circuit Pack of the old model.
The new Circuit pack Add to the above 18-inch forged wheels, interior stitching and red belts. Meanwhile, the touring pack It has a blind spot detector, front and rear parking sensors, heated steering wheel and front seats, and JBL® premium audio equipment with eight speakers.
