We all know the main difference between 95 and 98 gasoline: the price. However, apart from the price, there are more differences between these two types of gasoline, the most important being the octane rating.
The numbering, 95 or 98, indicates the capacity of this fuel to prevent self detonation of fuel inside the cylinder. In practice, the higher the octane rating of the gasoline, the more the mixture can be compressed inside the cylinders without the mixture spontaneously igniting.

It must also be said that, although the manufacturer recommends a fuel with a higher or lower octane rating, in practice we can use either type of fuel.
In Europe, the lowest allowed octane rating is 95 octane. The advantages of this gasoline is its price, cheaper, and also that improves the start of our car in cold. In global terms, it can be said that 95-octane gasoline is the most used in cars, with a great difference compared to 98-octane gasoline.
