The Lotus revolution is underway and stopping it seems at least impossible. With the Evija they gave us an advanced engineering lesson, but with the Emira they have also come out on top. Well, if we now add their technological capacity with the money from their parent company, imagine what they will be capable of. The first preview of his new journey is days away from debuting and, to be honest, it has half the world on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
Yes, because the Lotus Type 132 (or Lambda, it's not official yet) will be a turning point for the house of Hethel. First of all, because it is a large SUV and, secondly, because it will be pure electric. But also, because it will mark the step to follow in terms of aesthetics, since it will inaugurate a new aesthetic code. We have talked about him in recent months, but like all good news, he has not been able to withstand the pressure and has leaked...
In its own way, the Lotus Type 132 sports a design just as risky as that of the Lamborghini Urus…
Over the past few months, Lotus has released several previews of the Type 132.. Almost all of them had their technological level as a starting point, since it is one of their great assets. However, in recent weeks they have published a series of teasers. In them have revealed some of their secretsalthough without going very far. Especially with regard to its design, although we already know how they are part of its optics or the instrument panel.
Total, that days after its official debut it seems that in Lotus they have bundled it. Yes because from Wuhan Lotus Cars Co., Ltd., have registered the patent of its design and, thanks to that, it has seen the light. The body in which they have carried out the process is the Australian Patent and Trademark Office, one of the most "prolific" in terms of leaks. and seeing the photos depicting the Type 132 design we must say that we are facing an attractive SUV.
But besides being attractive, we could also add risky and very sporty in the purest Urus style. To highlight, we can mention the air intakes of the front hood, the LiDAR radar located above the windshield or that does not mount traditional mirrors. The door handles are hidden in the bodywork and the battery charging port cover is in the left front fender. But there are more details to highlight, such as the wheels.
Moreover, the shape of the rear optics we could already see in the published teasers. The front ones are more original, distancing themselves from any previous Lotus proposal. Finally, in the rear we have the two-piece "floating" roof spoiler that wraps another LiDAD radar. We also know, although it does not go away, that there is an active spoiler above the tailgate, but it is not visible here. All this wrapped in a coupé-style bodywork.
What should we expect from this great electric SUV?
Well, little else for now. We know that it is built on a new dedicated platform that Lotus has created and that can mount batteries up to 120 kWh capacity. In addition, it will have 800-volt charging technology, which will make it one of the fastest at this stage. As a curious fact, the patent shows that the bottoms are completely faired. This is to improve its aerodynamic efficiency and increase range.
On the other hand, if the rumors are true, should have a final power between 600 and 700 hp. For this, it will have a dual drivetrain that will also provide total four-wheel drive. Thanks to this potential, I could sign a acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers in about 3 seconds. The negative part of the Type 132 will be in its final scale weight, which could be the highest in the history of the British manufacturer.
In any case, We will know all these and more details next March 29. Although who knows, after his patent has been leaked, we may see it ahead of time...
