What is one of the most representative vans on the market recently received a complete update that tries to position the Italian model as one of the leaders in its segment. To achieve this goal, Iveco continues to strengthen the range and has come to Brussels to present the latest developments in this model.
From now on the Iveco Daily will have in its range a eight-speed automatic transmission with the trade name Hi-Matic. Although it may seem silly, an automatic van helps reduce fatigue and stress in those drivers who spend several hours a day behind the wheel of this type of vehicle, especially if they drive through urban centers regularly.
In this way, the Iveco Daily is the first van on the market to adopt an automatic gearbox of this type. Thanks to the greater number of relations and its better staggering, an improvement in performance is achieved, with faster acceleration and adjusted consumption. In addition, it offers Eco and Power operating modes, with different change management depending on the needs of each moment.
The Eco mode changes gear quickly, at a low speed and smoothly, keeping consumption at bay, while the Power mode speeds up the gears more and makes the changes more quickly to take full advantage of the engine, which can be a 2.3 or 3.0-liter diesel. with up to 205 horsepower and 470Nm of torque. Depending on the brand, the maintenance cost is reduced by 10% compared to manual versions, which is an important fact.
Iveco will market the Hi-Matic automatic gearbox with three different programs, Urban, Regional and International. The first is focused on those who use it more frequently in the city, optimizing maneuverability and comfort. The International program also has a double overdrive and a torque converter with a torsional damper. These measures help reduce consumption on longer journeys and at established speeds. The towing capacity of the Daily automatic is up to 3.500 kilos, with a total mass of up to 7,2 tons.
