In today's test we are facing a model that is in the top selling cars so far this year. Its about Volkswagen T-Roc, which arrives with a typical mid-life update. In this restyling we will not find many differences in its exterior and interior design, but the few that it has make it more competitive against its rivals.
The unit that we have had during the week of tests is the 1.0 TSI 110 hp, six-speed manual gearbox and the access finish, Called Life. The price of Volkswagen T-Roc starts from €29.560 without discounts or promotions, so we are facing a car with a very good quality/price ratio in these times.
Exterior without major differences in this Volkswagen T-Roc 2022

Si we started talking about its aesthetics, the updated T-Roc it does not stand out for any change that stands out at first sight, but looking closely, we can see a slightly different bumper in which new silver moldings are included. On the other hand, we found some full LED optical groups, which in the R-Line version, are joined together by a strip that lights up in white.
Continuing with the sideWe do not see any change. The only thing to highlight about this unit are the 17 inch rims and dual tone color, being black for the roof area and rear-view mirrors while the rest is white. Yes we go to the rear, is where once again nothing important stands out compared to the predecessor version, although it does subtly vary bottom reflectors. In any case, we still have full LED optics, which is something that is always appreciated.
Very good fit inside

Entering the cockpit of the T-Roc, we found some more notable differences. First of all, his steering wheel, which now has a different and more modern design. On the other hand, the air conditioning system is fully tactile, when until now we had physical controls to control it. Looking on the bright side, at least we don't have to go to the multimedia screen to raise the temperature, although I'm still not entirely convinced.
But without a doubt what I like most about this SUV, are its finishes. And it is that despite the fact that it is made up mainly of hard plastic, it is all very well adjusted and it is very difficult to find a cricketIn addition, it gives a good feeling of perceived quality. On the other hand, it does have areas with softness and good touch, such as on the dashboard.
Going to the technological section, we find a 10,25-inch digital instrument cluster, a system that is already known in the rest of the group. Refering to media screen, Is 8 inchesIt has physical controls for volume control and something important, integration with Apple Car Play and Android Auto even wirelessly, an absolute ten.
About the front seats, they are made of fabric and with a very characteristic design that suits her really well. The seats they are comfortable, they have good lateral grip and also, as an option, they can be heated even in this access finish.
Rear seats with space somewhat fair

Continuing to the second row of seats, this is where the T-Roc shows its dimensions. They are 4,25 meters long, so we cannot expect great habitability, at least for tall people like me, who I'm 1,94 meters tall. With the driver's seat adjusted to my height, I find myself very fair for the legs, coming to collide with the seat. Despite this, I'm not too uncomfortable.
However, for adults of average height, the rear seats will be comfortable enough thanks also to its softness, this being very nice. On the other hand, we have ventilation outlets, although without temperature control, and two USB-C type sockets for recharging our devices.
One of the best trunks in its category

Already in the trunk, the T-Roc proves to be one of the best among its most direct rivals. Cube a capacity of 445 liters, so we can put several objects of good volume without any impediment, also thanks to its squared loading mouth.
The double bottom is also a surprise because when carrying a puncture repair kit, there is a good gap in the place where the spare wheel should go.
Several mechanics but none electrified in the Volkswagen T-Roc 2022

The Volkswagen T-Roc is marketed in three different finishes along with diesel and gasoline mechanics with the possibility of manual or automatic change, at least as of July 2022. We find the Life finish, which is the access one, R-Line, which has a more sporty appearance, and R, the latter being the most efficient and expensive. Also note that none of the engines is MHEV, so they all have the DGT C label.
The finish Life It has mechanics 110 and 150 hp gasoline y 115 and 150 hp diesel. The R-Line offers engines 150 hp and 190 hp gasoline with 4Motion all-wheel drive while the diesel is only the 150 CV. To finish we have the top of the range, the R, which has a 2.0-liter block with 300 CV, 4Motion all-wheel drive and automatic gearbox.
Behind the wheel of the 2022 Volkswagen T-Roc

The Volkswagen T-Roc is a car that drives comfortably and it has good dynamics thanks also to its low weight, only 1.294 kg. This 1.0 CV 110 TSI mechanic is more than enough, because although we will not have a brutal response under our right foot, we will not need more for our day to day, although yes some other "but" in certain situations.
One of those "buts" is when we look for traveling with four occupants and a full trunk, a common situation especially in summer, so we will also add the use of air conditioning. At these times, the 1.0-liter block can leave us with a very fair feeling of power, since it is difficult for him to increase speed and on steep slopes, even maintain it. If we are looking for more ease, I would definitely opt for the 1.5 hp 150 TSI mechanics, which is perfect in every way.
La six-speed manual gearbox has a more than acceptable touch, although if I look for the tickle, a shorter travel between gears would suit him better. It is not that we have to put the first one on the dashboard and the second one in the trunk, but a little less distance would be better.
Soundproofing, suspension and steering

La soundproofing is another one very positive point of the German SUV, since we can hardly hear the aerodynamic noise in its cabin even at speeds of 120 km / h. Another aspect is that its engine will not be very noticeable either, even if we raise it to a high rpm rate. The rolling sound is more appreciable but nothing out of the ordinary, it is equipped with efficient tires such as the Michelin Primacy 3 which, among other details, minimizes the noise caused by movement.
As for the dynamism, the T-Roc stands out for its light weight, making it noticeable very agile against its rivals. A point that favors this agility is the suspension, which has a "hard" setting but not uncomfortable, so it correctly maintains the inertia of the car and prevents it from excessively rolling. On the other hand, the 55 profile tires also help to absorb the imperfections of the terrain and make it more comfortable.
And if we talk about the steer axle truck, has convinced me mainly due to its nice touch. It reports relatively well for the model that is clear, and its level of accuracy is relatively straightforward. It is clearly not the same as that of a T-Roc R, but there is superiority in this regard compared to its most direct rivals.
Consumption Volkswagen T-Roc 1.0 TSI 110 CV

Ending with the dynamic test, we are going to comment the consumptions that we have obtained after the whole week of tests. The T-Roc with this mechanics 1.0 TSI of 110 CV, is capable of offering a consumption in combined use of 7 liters at 100, a more than acceptable figure considering that it homologates one liter less than 100 according to the WLPT cycle.
If we want greater accuracy, in a use only of city, we could be hanging around the 8 or 8,5 liters per 100While on the highway, the mean is around 6,5 liters at 100. In my opinion, a more than acceptable average considering the type of car it is and the mechanics it has.
Conclusions Volkswagen T-Roc 2022

To conclude with the test of this Volkswagen T-Roc, we will make a summary of the most positive and negative pointsIn addition to its mechanics. In the first place, its 1.0-litre, 110 hp engine works properly, has acceptable consumption and is more than enough for day-to-day use, but if we are going to go out regularly with the family and loaded, perhaps we will have something fair.
What I liked the most It is your standard equipment. Yes, it is true that the tested unit had some other optional, but this Life access finish comes well equipped and we would only have some other fancy as extras. The trunk is also really good, one of the best in its category and finally, I really like the finishes it has, since for a car of this price, they are very well adjusted and with good perceived quality.
As for Bad points, the T-Roc leaves me with a bitter taste in its rear seats, it's the only thing I could blame it on. I know that I am a tall person, but I think that by favoring more trunk space, some habitability has been reduced in the second row of seats. But as I said, adults of average height are not going to have any problem.
