We're now entering the final part of the test. The Golf range is primarily structured around three trim levels: Edition, Advance, and Sport . The BlueMotion trim is also worth mentioning; it's based on the Edition trim and differs only in its rear spoiler and C-pillar spoiler, lowered suspension, and partially closed grille. The TDI engine in this trim produces 110 hp and is equipped with a 6-speed gearbox. Furthermore, as we all know, the Golf also has two high-performance versions: the Golf GTI and the GTD. However, as the brand itself does, we'll distinguish these from the "regular" Golf models.
The Golf we tested was the Advance trim. As we've already mentioned, it's a mid-range trim, and it comes with a fairly comprehensive standard equipment package, which is why I think it's the most appealing. It also included some interesting options, such as the Lane Assist system (€555). This system was easily activated with a button on the edge of the left stalk and worked quite well. It kept the car in its lane at all times, and did so smoothly and precisely. I recently tested Ford's Lane Assist system, and it didn't work as well, as it was slower to detect lane departures, almost crossing the lines, and it pulled the car back into the lane more abruptly. This option is paired with the high-beam assist, which also worked correctly.

Another interesting option is the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Front Assist (€325). It's not as intuitive to use, as it involves several buttons located on the left spoke of the steering wheel, but the ACC worked very well. It maintained the set distance (adjustable), and in the first setting, it moved much closer to the car in front than the Ford system we tested, allowing us to maintain a "normal" distance. It also performed overtaking and braking maneuvers more smoothly and quickly. This system is a better solution. The Front Assist (activated like Lane Assist) warned us if we were approaching the vehicle ahead too quickly, and at low speeds, such as in the city, this system is capable of bringing the vehicle to a complete stop, preventing a potential collision.

After reviewing the equipment, it's worth noting that even the base Edition trim level of the Golf comes with a host of safety features, including the XDS electronic limited-slip differential, Composition Media CD radio, electric parking brake with auto-hold, and variable electromechanical power steering—not bad for the entry-level model. All engines are equipped with Start-Stop, energy recuperation, and gear shift indicator, all part of the BlueMotion package.

Conclusions
To conclude the test, I'd like to say that the Golf we tested proved to be a well-rounded product . It boasts a nice design (albeit a bit understated and evolutionary), good interior space, and a decent-sized trunk. Furthermore, the interior clearly shows attention to detail, with many practical features and high-quality workmanship. The equipment is top-notch, and the 105 hp TDI engine performed exceptionally well, exceeding expectations while remaining remarkably fuel-efficient. All of this is complemented by good handling in all driving conditions.
The only downside we see to the car is the price . Competitors in this segment offer similar vehicles at a significantly lower price. Yes, they're not a Golf, but the price difference is quite substantial in some cases. The Golf's biggest rival might even be within its own ranks, as the new Seat Leon has shown considerable improvement this generation, and its price, with comparable equipment, is much lower.
