The most fashionable car brand in recent months is undoubtedly Tesla. Elon Musk's company is becoming a true benchmark in electric mobility and driving systems that bring us closer to fully autonomous driving . Their vehicles aren't cheap, but they are the most advanced cars in terms of sustainable mobility. However, the fact that they are such exclusive and technologically advanced products doesn't mean they are immune to errors.
Today we learned of a massive recall affecting 53.000 Tesla Model S and Tesla Model X vehicles. All of them were manufactured between February and October of 2016. And no, the reason for the recall has nothing to do with their semi-autonomous driving capabilities or the electric powertrain. The fault lies in the parking brake.

Elon Musk's American company has released a statement explaining the reason for the recall. " The electric parking brakes installed on Model S and Model X vehicles built between February and October 2016 may contain a small gear that could have been incorrectly manufactured by our supplier ." The automaker wants its customers to remain calm, stating that the recall is being conducted out of an abundance of caution . Tesla has also stated that no accidents have occurred due to this issue.
Apparently, the fault stems specifically from a small gear that could malfunction. Should this occur, the parking brake system would be unable to release, leaving the vehicle immobilized. Tesla emphasizes that this issue is unrelated to the vehicle's main braking system , which should reassure its customers.
Finally, the brand tells its customers that " We will soon send you an official recall notice by mail, which will include information on how to replace your parking brakes ."
