When the Volkswagen Group announced its plan to "sink" Tesla, they confirmed that most of their brands would have different electric models. They've allocated several billion euros to develop them, but to this day, nothing has changed. Tesla and BYD share the lead , and they're still struggling. But much of this mess they've gotten themselves into could be resolved thanks to a new model. We're referring to the Skoda Elorq, which we're showing you here, still camouflaged , but which is getting closer and closer to becoming available.
We told you about the new Skoda Elroq a few months ago , but it wasn't until now that the company's communications department decided to release new information. This information comes with a series of photos showing the model, which will arrive on the market still heavily camouflaged. This isn't the first time the Mladá Boleslav-based firm has used this technique, but what can you do? We'll just have to wait. That said, the information they've given us offers some hope that its sluggish sales will finally improve.
The new Elroq carries the Modern Solid aesthetic with minimalist and functional lines as its flag…

As we mentioned earlier, the unit you see is heavily camouflaged. The aim is to keep its final design from being revealed prematurely, but in the meantime, Skoda is sharing some details of its appearance with the world. The most notable is that it debuts a whole new design language called “Modern Solid,” characterized by its functionality, minimalism, and clean lines, exuding authenticity and robustness. A key feature is the Tech Deck Face grille, which extends the headlight design and integrates the radar and front camera.
Interestingly, its two-tiered headlights will feature standard LED technology, with optional LED Matrix headlights boasting 36 individual diodes . Another noteworthy detail, and a new feature, is the replacement of the hood logo with the brand name. And that's all we can glean from the Skoda's specifications. However, beneath the camouflage, we can discern an SUV-like silhouette combined with minivan styling cues, resulting in superior interior space and a combined trunk capacity of between 470 and 1.580 liters.
Inside, Skoda isn't offering any images beyond the sketch it released a few months ago. Even so, to build hype, they've announced that it will feature a next-generation Head-Up Display with graphics in the style of the brand's new corporate identity. There will also be a configurable 5,3-inch digital instrument cluster and an infotainment system powered by a 13-inch central touchscreen. In addition, there will be Design Selections, or interior design styles.
According to Skoda, all of these models emphasize the use of recycled materials with a high recyclability capacity. Another of its strengths lies in the Simply Clever features and smart storage solutions, offering up to 48 liters of extra capacity. These include a new pocket for storing the charging cable and an adjustable rear parcel shelf for the trunk. Furthermore, a QR code allows the owner to access information about the Elroq's available features and functions.
Its technique is based on the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform…

The new Skoda Elroq's technology, as expected, is based on the MEB platform that the Volkswagen Group developed a few years ago for the ID.3. Therefore, it was expected that the Elroq would share this mechanical framework with four motor variants. The range begins with the Elroq 50, featuring a 125 kW (170 hp) electric motor and a 55 kWh battery powering the rear axle. The Elroq 60 increases the power to 150 kW (204 hp) with a 63 kWh battery, also sending power to the rear axle.
Thirdly, there's the Elroq 85 , which increases the output of its electric motor to 82 kW (285,6 hp). In this case, the powertrain is powered by an 82 kWh battery . Finally, there's the 85x version, which retains the 82 kWh battery capacity but increases the electric motor's power to a total of 220 kW (299,2 hp). Furthermore, it features all-wheel drive, making it the most capable off-road version.
Taking into account its full potential, Skoda announces a range of over 560 kilometers on a single charge. They state that fast charging allows it to go from 10% to 80% in about 28 minutes in all versions. Using a standard household outlet, the charging time, with a Wallbox of up to 11 kW, ranges from 5,5 to 8 hours at maximum power. In this case, the MySkoda app simplifies charging thanks to the Powerpass service and allows you to control charging at home directly from the Wallbox.
Before concluding, it's worth noting that the new Skoda Elroq features new safety and assistance systems. Among the new features is the use of cloud data to enhance the Travel Assist system and advanced parking functions. This includes features such as remote parking and programmed parking. With programmed parking, the driver can teach the car to park in up to five locations along a route with a maximum length of 50 meters.
For now there is no date for its official debut but...

Skoda is currently keeping the date for the Elroq's world premiere under wraps . However, it's official that it will be unveiled before the new Epiq urban crossover SUV arrives, as the two will complement each other in the brand's product lineup. The Epiq urban SUV is expected to be officially launched in early 2025. Therefore, we should pay close attention to all the news coming from Skoda, as they could surprise us with an unexpected development. Stay tuned…
