The Volkswagen Group continues with its plans to electrify its various brands . Almost without making a sound, the Czech brand Skoda has positioned itself ahead of the Spanish brand Seat, practically driving it to the brink of extinction. It's not that the Mladá Boleslav-based company is to blame for its future, but its sales and profitability have certainly influenced the fact that its future is now limited. Moreover, Cupra is "more attractive" and the profit per model sold is higher…
Whatever the case, Skoda has a significant lead in electrification , and the proof is right here. Yes, the company is announcing that in just a couple of years, it will have several new models debuting in clay form. These are two life-size models that preview what the future electric B-SUV and the Elroq will look like . But these are just the tip of the iceberg of an even larger offensive that will even reach the iconic Superb.
The Skoda Small BEV, which will arrive in 2025, will be manufactured in Spain and will be a technical clone of the Volkswagen ID.2…
The first model Skoda is showcasing is the Small BEV . This is its internal codename, so when it arrives on the market it will be called something else, although technically speaking it will be the indirect successor to the current Kamiq. To this end, it will have a body measuring around 4,1 meters in length, notable for its integration of the Modern Solid design language. This is evident in the sharp lines along the side and the sculpted front end.
For its development, the Volkswagen Group is using the MEB platform, the same one used for the ID.2 and the Cupra Raval. In fact, the Czech model will be a technical clone of both and will even be manufactured alongside them, although it's still unknown whether it will be in Landaben or Martorell. Thanks to this platform, it will be able to include a battery with a capacity of up to 50 kWh, offering a range of up to 400 kilometers. It will also have a trunk that, according to the brand, will reach up to 460 liters.
With the Elroq the names Electric and Karoq are merged but it will not be based on the MQB platform but on the MEB...
The second clay model presented by Skoda is of the Elroq . This model's name combines "Electric" and "Karoq," making it, in a way, the electric version of the Czech C-SUV. However, it's not a derivative of the Karoq, as the Elroq is based on the MEB platform , not the familiar MQB. Therefore, there will be both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions.
Looking at the clay model, the Elroq's design appears more defined than that of the Small BEV . Its lines are clearer, and this is evident in the front and rear, particularly the taillights. While the company hasn't confirmed it yet, the design seems to share the same features as the Enyaq iV . In any case, the entire Modern Solid design language is more mature and assertive than anything the Czech manufacturer has used previously.
In Skoda's electric adventure there will be no shortage, either, of the new Enyaq, Combi and Space, the latter, with up to 7 seats...
This is the extent of Skoda's "overt" electric offensive, but there's more. The model that will replace the current Enyaq is expected to be unveiled in 2025. Alongside it will come the Enyaq Coupé with technical improvements such as charging capabilities and increased range. Shortly after, around 2026, the new Combi should be launched . This SUV, approximately 4,7 meters long, is expected to be the electric alternative to the new Superb Combi.
There will also be a large electric SUV measuring around 4,9 meters long with seating for seven passengers . Currently known as the Space, it appears to be the production version of a concept car: the Skoda Vision 7S Concept, which debuted in 2022 as the start of the brand's electric revolution.
