The fragmentation of the automotive sector forces brands to adapt . If they want to survive, they need to have customers on their side, otherwise they won't sell a single car. But if these companies are newly established, their survival depends not only on customers but also on investors who inject money to develop their cars. And in these uncertain times of electrification, cases like Aehra's are very, very interestingā¦
Yes, because this Italian firm is one of the youngest in the automotive sector. In fact, they haven't yet presented a single full-size or functional model to guarantee their viability. Be that as it may, they have a series of projects on the table that, at first glance, sound truly ambitious. Well, after announcing a couple of days ago an agreement with Miba to develop 120 kWh batteries, they've released teasers of their EV Sedanā¦
The official debut of the Aehra EV Sedan will be at the Milano Monza Motor Show on June 16ā¦
If you cast your mind back, you'll recall that Aehra announced some time ago that it was working on two models . The first is the EV SUV, which we've already seen in several teasers and official renders. The second is a sedan that will bear little resemblance to the traditional concept of this type of vehicle. Well, with these teasers, they confirm that its development is on track and even dare to make claims that the EV Sedan is very close to being released.
In fact, they describe their design as followsā¦
"The new sedan follows in the footsteps of the AEHRA SUV unveiled last year, and the images reveal a vehicle with exquisitely beautiful flowing lines and exceptionally strong, organically muscular proportions. They offer a seductive initial glimpse of the sedan's dynamic front-end treatment, almost fluid side profile, and elegantly tapered rear , and represent design features that would typically be exclusive to a supercar show car."
This definition of its silhouette helps us understand what they're planning, as the teasers aren't very clear . We can see what some angles of its bodywork will look like, such as the headlights or the curve towards the rear, but they aren't as revealing as they should be. However, we should interpret these teasers as a call to action for investors attending the Milano Monza Motor Show, as that's where it will make its official debut.
What is known about this EV Sedan
For now , the mysteries surrounding Aehra and its models are numerous . Yes, they're making some interesting announcements, such as the use of 120 kWh batteries to achieve ranges of up to 800 kilometers. They also indicate that they've been developed on an industry-leading carbon fiber monocoque EV platform . But they haven't provided any further details about the powertrain or its power outputā¦
However, Filippo Perini, Head of Design at Aehra, confirms thatā¦
āWe donāt believe in creating unrepresentative prototypes, so when we present the new sedan at the Milan Monza Motor Show on June 16, the car will look virtually identical to the final production model arriving in 2026. ā [ā¦] āAehra will begin the first customer deliveries of the SUV and Sedan models by 2026.ā
In short, Aehra will officially unveil its EV Sedan on June 16th. If it's well-received and all goes according to plan, it will hit the market in 2026. We'll have to see if they actually stick to their schedule, as it was initially announced that both models would arrive in 2025 , and now, almost magically, they'll be released a year later. Perhaps there's trouble in paradise...
