The Seat Arona turns 5 years old. What can we highlight about it?

Seat Arona

There is no doubt that SUVs are no longer a fad, but a trend that was introduced a decade ago and that little by little has been "snacking" the usual style of passenger cars in practically all sizes. Seat It was not exactly one of the first brands to bet heavily on this type of bodywork, but nothing has gone wrong with him Ateca and with the Arona.

Today we are going to talk about Seat Arona, a car that debuted on the market in 2017. . The Martorell brand said that it was "the definitive crossover for the city", although it is a marketing message and practically any manufacturer has to say the same about its product for the segment B-SUV. Be that as it may, the success of this car is unquestionable; at least in Spain.

The Seat Arona is a highly demanded car in Spain

The first thing to note is that this Seat urban crossover accumulates no less than 430.000 units sold worldwide since its launch 5 years ago. Of all of them, more than 84.000 have been sold in Spain. Therefore, it is a car that is very popular within our borders, with one out of every five Seat Arona manufactured remaining in the Spanish market.

Last 2021 was a fantastic year for the Arona in Spain. And this was the best-selling car of the year in our country with almost 22.000 units, beating rivals as tough as the Hyundai Tucson or Dacia Sandero. In addition, it joins other iconic Seat models that have been market leaders at some point, such as the 1400, 600, 850, 127, Ibiza and León.

The strengths and weaknesses of the Seat Arona

As we already told you in our recent test with a 150 hp Seat Arona TSI and FR finish, this SUV is very balanced by behavior pleasant both in the city and on fast roads. In addition, without being too big on the outside, it is quite spacious inside and for trunk capacity; while its price is balanced.

Yes, too there are things that we don't end up liking, especially as far as mechanical supply is concerned. It is true that the 1.0 hp 110 TSI engine is the most recommended in this car, but a diesel version is also missing and, why not say it, a hybrid, plug-in hybrid or micro-hybrid variant. In addition, some adjustments to the cabin could be better achieved, although they are not critical details.
