As you know, the Scenic is no longer the minivan that charmed families across Europe. It's joined the SUV camp, which we don't particularly like, and it's also 100% electric. In case you've forgotten what the new Renault Scenic E-Tech looks like, we'll remind you of some key features of this new generation. It's a C-segment SUV measuring 4,47 meters long , 1,86 meters wide, and 1,57 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2,78 meters. As for its design, it evolves the lines already seen in the Megane E-Tech, since both models share the same platform: the modern CMF-EV.
As for the propulsion system, there's an electric motor with two power levels: 170 hp and 218 hp . The battery powering it can be either 60 kWh or 87 kWh, with ranges from 430 kilometers to 623 kilometers for the larger battery. The maximum DC fast charging power is 130 kW for the 60 kWh battery. This increases to 150 kW for the larger 87 kWh battery.

Regarding its interior, the Scenic E-Tech isn't what it used to be, but it's still spacious for passengers. It now offers a 545-liter trunk thanks to being 27 centimeters longer than the Megane E-Tech. Its technological credentials are top-notch, with features like the Android Automotive operating system . Not to mention the multi-sense modes : Comfort, Sport, Eco, and Personal, which modify its response and driving dynamics.
Who have been the rivals that the rhombus SUV has beaten?
These and other attributes have earned the Renault Scenic E-Tech the title of European Car of the Year 2024. However, the list of rivals it had to compete against was not made up of unknown cars. The second-highest scorer, with 308 votes, was the new BMW 5 Series . In third place was the new generation Peugeot 3008 , which, somewhat further behind, obtained a final score of 197 votes.

Just missing the podium, in fourth place, is the Kia EV9 . The South Korean firm's most spacious SUV narrowly missed out with a total of 190 points. Fifth place went to the Volvo EX30 , which, with 168 votes, landed in the bottom group. Finally, sixth and seventh place went to the BYD Seal with 131 votes and the new generation Toyota C-HR with 127 points.
