The updated Porsche Macan was unveiled just minutes ago in Shanghai, featuring some significant changes to address the challenges of this generation's later years. The Macan arrived on the market in 2014 as the Cayenne's smaller sibling, and quickly became another resounding success.
The facelift unveiled today for Stuttgart's mid-size SUV brings a more mature feel, more technology, and improved dynamic qualities , ensuring its continued status as the benchmark model for years to come. Since its launch in 2014, over 350.000 units of this model have been sold, a remarkable achievement for a car in its price range.
Before anything else, I wanted to mention that, as the German brand makes clear, the version shown in the images is the model specifically for the Chinese market, although versions for other markets will be released throughout the year . There won't be drastic changes from one market to another, but it's worth keeping in mind.
A deep restyling, with notable aesthetic changes
Having said that, let's take a look at its design . It inherits several features from the 911 and 918 Spyder, models whose headlights are particularly reminiscent of them . The headlights come standard with LEDs, and optionally, we can optimize the lighting by purchasing Porsche's Dynamic Light System Plus, which automatically adapts the light beam according to traffic conditions.
The front end has been redesigned to enhance the feeling of width , featuring more pronounced horizontal lines. At the rear , the three-dimensional LED taillights adopt the look of the latest additions to the German automaker's lineup, connecting with each other and spanning the entire tailgate, as seen on the second-generation Porsche Panamera we saw a few months ago.
Inside, the new GT sports steering wheel, pictured here, is particularly striking , as it integrates the Sport Response button from the optional Sports Chrono package. Equally eye-catching is the new infotainment screen at the top of the dashboard, which has grown from 7 to 11 inches and offers various customization options.

The Porsche Macan comes standard with the aforementioned 11-inch Porsche Communication Management (PCM) screen with intelligent voice control and online navigation with real-time traffic information, as well as full LED lighting. Additionally, four new body colors and redesigned 20- and 21-inch wheels are available.
Equally important are the new driver assistance systems coming to the Macan range, among which we can highlight the Traffic Jam Assist , integrated into the adaptive cruise control, which allows for more relaxed driving at speeds up to 60 km/h. In addition to accelerating and braking automatically, it also assists with steering control, although, as a reminder, the driver remains ultimately responsible.
