The electrification of the automotive sector is triggering a flood of new premium models . We've never seen so many brands and models in this market segment. And most importantly, almost all of them, with a few notable exceptions, come from China . One of the most powerful is Polestar , and the reason is easy to understand: it's backed by Geely's financial resources and the technological capabilities of the Swedish company Volvo.
The last time we talked about the Swedish-Chinese firm was a few days ago. To be more precise, it was because of the patent leak affecting the design of one of their upcoming models, the "5" liftback . But now they're back in the news, releasing a photo of their most important model: the Polestar 3. As you can see in the image, the Polestar 3's side profile is now official . We don't yet know its exterior dimensions, but knowing that it will be positioned as the top-of-the-range model, it could be around 5 meters long. And if we look closely, this "3" doesn't seem that generously sized. Even so, there are design elements that disguise it, such as the sloping roofline , the high waistline, the C-pillar trim , and the generous wheel arches.
Nor can we overlook the door handles integrated into the sheet metal or the black plastic trim that runs along the lower edge of the doors and the lower contour of the body. Looking at the front, we see vertically styled full LED headlights and sharply defined, angular lines . At the rear, a spoiler crowns the top of the rear window, and the taillights, also full LED, are positioned high and horizontally arranged…

In terms of technology, a quick glance at the press release reveals some of its new features. The Polestar 3 will include, among other things, autonomous driving with LiDAR radar and NVIDIA software . Furthermore, the powertrain will feature two electric motors and a large battery for a range of over 600 kilometers (WLTP).
