One of the reasons the PSA Group decided to join the FCA Group is its heavy reliance on the European market . The Italian-American consortium, with varying degrees of success, has a well-distributed market portfolio, and its position in the Americas is enviable. It is for this reason that the French have set their sights on the Italians. But be warned, models like the Peugeot Landtrek Pick Up demonstrate their true intentions.
We've talked about the Peugeot Landtrek Pickup before. This model is the result of the partnership between Peugeot and Changan. In fact, it's essentially a rebadged version of the Kaicheng F70 , which they sell in much of Asia. However, the engineers at the PSA Group have made their mark to ensure that the two models aren't easily distinguishable. Now, sales are beginning in much of the Americas.
The base of the Peugeot Landtrek is the unknown Changan Kaicheng F70

Its launch in the region will take place in two distinct phases. The first countries to receive it are: Mexico, Uruguay, Ecuador, Paraguay, Panama, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Haiti, and finally Chile. Later, customers in Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia will be able to purchase a unit. Overall, Peugeot's objective with the sale of the Landtrek Pick Up is divided into three parts…
- Continue your development outside Europe thanks to a pickup offer that is as international as possible,
- Increase your sales volumes by relying on a complete range of light commercial vehicles where 77% of which are pickups in Latin America, and
- Strengthen your international reputation attracting new customers.
Addressing these three challenges required an international approach, positioning the new Landtrek Pick Up in the segment with the highest sales volume outside of Europe . To achieve this, the French firm has developed a range of engines that, while limited in versions, offers excellent performance. We're referring to a 2.4 THP gasoline engine that delivers 210 hp. The only drawback, perhaps, is that for now it's only available in a 4x2 version.
Talking about its arrival in Europe is a waste of time , but we can't rule anything out. Evolving customer tastes could lead them, given their extensive history, to launch a model in this segment.
