Omoda y JAECOO have been the Breakthrough car brands of the year 2024 in Spain and EuropeIt is true that they were not the great novelty in terms of their origin, since MG and other Chinese brands had been in the Old Continent for a long time. But the revolution in our country has been total, since one and the other firm have been a hard blow "on the waterline" of many brands. So much so that, although their sales are testimonial, they are being a success...
Month after month, one brand after another tells us how their numbers are progressing.. And although, as we have already said, they are not the same as their rivals, they are indicative that the market is changing. So, now that 2024 is drawing to a close, they are beginning to take stock of their situation. And although December is still to come and they will surely surprise us again this month, we have to review how their trajectory has been. Take note and don't get distracted.
Omoda and JAECOO have sold 1.332 units in Spain during the month of November…
Traditionally The last months of the year are the most interesting in terms of salesMany customers rush into buying in order to "catch the bargain of the year" since it is assumed that cars are cheaper at the end of the year. This does not have to be the case because if a dealer has reached its annual target in June, they will not give us more discounts at the end of the year but will limit themselves to increasing their volume without going completely crazy.
Taking all this into account and knowing that the CAFE regulations will be launched on January 1st for sure Omoda and its sister label JAECOO will be giving their all on December 31st. According to the company, during the month of November the first one has sold a total of 997 units in our country. This number may seem small but it has meant reaching a market share of 1,2% of the total with only two active models.
Of this total 930 units corresponded to the new Omoda 5 MY25 equipped with a gasoline thermal engine. The remaining 67 units include the new 5% electric 814 EV, which has been on sale for less than a month. Another interesting fact to bear in mind is that XNUMX units went to private customers, which is considered a success. The reason is simple: the private customer channel is more profitable than that of companies and the self-employed.
In second place is JAECOO. Chery's premium subsidiary for Europe is also achieving good figures. The official press release published by the firm announces that 7 units of the SUV 335 have been sold in NovemberThis figure represents a market share of 0,40% of the total in Spain. However, of this total, 256 units are in the hands of private customers, so the rest have gone to join the lists of leasing companies or businesses.
So far this year (February-November) Omoda & JAECOO have sold 7.682 registrations (0,85% share)
Overall, Omoda and JAECOO's total sales figure for November was 1.332 units. For many of their rivals, these figures are more than modest, but for the managers of both brands this is not the case, as they have to overcome many problems. The most complicated has to do with their origin, the competition from the Asian country and the rock-bottom prices they announce. Overall, together they have added up to a 1,6% market share this month.
And to "close the circle" they wanted to give the Year-to-date data (January to November). According to what they tell us, both have done wonderfully, even though JAECOO began its journey in the country in September. In total They have sold 7.682 units, which represents 0,85% of the total market share. from February 22 to November 30. If we look closely, this period of time is less than a calendar year and the data is good.
If we dissect this figure we will see how Omoda and JAECOO have distributed their sales. The former has delivered a total of 6.897 vehicles to its customers in just over nine months. For its part, Chery's premium subsidiary has added a total of 785 units to its balance sheet in just two and a half months, which is the time it has been active in Spain. If the plans of both brands go well, They could close the year with around 10 thousand units sold… Will they succeed or not? We'll see…
