Now that summer is here, there are many people who are opting for a “blanket and road” vacation. That is perhaps why Nissan has presented its small motorhomes based on vans e-NV200 and e-NV300. The result is two vehicles that have everything you need to live comfortably anywhere and that also respect the environment thanks to the fact that they are 100% electric.
The place chosen for its exclusive presentation was our country, where the Nissan e-NV200 has been manufactured since 2014 and from where it is distributed to 13 countries. Recently, this van designed for commercial functions has experienced a 60% increase in its autonomy. An improvement that is due to the incorporation of the al new 40 kWh batteries which give it a range of 200 km on a single charge.
Another type of tourism on wheels
Motorhomes are often associated with freedom. The idea that you can take your entire house on the road and explore the world is very appealing to many drivers. However, this type of transportation consume a lot of fuel and the 100% electric versions could significantly reduce the cost of travel and the pollution that occurs in them.
The move to electricity would mean a change of concept in the way of traveling by motorhome. With such a limited scope, travel would have to be reduced to weekend getaways or much shorter leg trips. Of course, with the advantage of having a clear conscience, being sure that the impact on the environment is much less.
The future of electric motorhomes
Leaving aside the limitations that electric vehicles currently have from anyone other than Tesla and a few other brands, the e-NV200 and e-NV300 motorhomes are the first step to an ecological type of tourism on wheels. Other companies are also working in the same direction as Volkswagen with your Buzz ID. A van that according to the German brand will have a range of up to 600 km, although we will not be able to verify if it fulfills its promise until 2022, the year in which it will hit the market.
