The new Audi A5 is here, accompanied by the Audi S5

We were waiting for the new Audi A5 2016 Like rain in May and although it arrived in June, the second generation of the German coupe continues to hold the interest of car enthusiasts. The replacement for the current Audi A5, which was launched on the market in 2007, has finally arrived. In addition, within the brand's new strategy with the four rings, the Audi S5 has been presented along with the standard range of the model, as was the case with the Audi A4.

The new Audi A5 has followed the path of the A4, which has allowed it lighten the set up to 60 kilos compared to the previous model. In the aesthetic section it is not a revolutionary model, since it continues with the usual continuous line Volkswagen Group, with a side view very similar to the outgoing model. It is in the front, in the rear and of course in the interior where the changes of the Audi A5 2016 are most visible.

Inside is where we do not get any surprises, since it is traced, with the exception of the rear seats, to the Audi A4. According to the brand, the interior habitability has improved and now the trunk is cubic 465 liters, 10 more than before. The tailgate can be opened by gesture control and the rear seatback is foldable in 40:20:40 format.

Despite the relationship with the A4, there is still a great evolution in terms of design, quality of materials and technology. The Audi A5 is more technological than ever thanks to elements such as the Audi virtual cockpit 12,3″ or the 8,3″ screen of the Audi MMI Navigation plus with Audi connect services and 4G Internet connection. Audi connect safety & service technology adds emergency and assistance calls and through the Audi MMI connect app it is possible to remotely control and know the status of the vehicle.

The 5 Audi A2016 also benefits from a whole compendium of driving aids, such as the adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, the driving assistant in traffic jams, the new Park Assist, the cross traffic alert or the recognition of traffic signs.

Five engines, in addition to the Audi S5

The Audi A5 Coupé will start its marketing with two TFSI petrol engines and three TDI diesels. All have been updated with respect to the current model, achieving up to 17% more power and a 22% lower consumption.

Audi has confirmed that they will move in a range of between 190 and 286 hp, although we only know the power of the two 3.0 TDI V6 with 218 and 286 hp, in addition to the Audi S5. At the moment, and waiting for the Audi RS5, the Audi S5 Coupé will be the most powerful model of the range, when equipping an engine V6 3.0 TFSI 354 hp, 21 more than the previous model. With this mechanism it is capable of doing 0-100 km/h in just 4,7 seconds, with an average consumption of 7,3 liters per 100 kilometers.

La four-wheel drive It will be optional on all engines, except for the 3.0 hp 286 TDI and the Audi S5, which will equip it as standard. The four-cylinder models use the quattro ultra drive. The four-cylinder engines and the 3.0 hp 218 TDI may have a 7-speed manual or DSG automatic transmission. The 286 hp TDI and the Audi S5 reserve the eight-speed automatic gearbox. At the chassis level, the new Audi A5 will offer a controlled damping system and variable speed steering to offer the most balanced behavior in all types of situations.

When does the new Audi A5 arrive on the market?

The new Audi A5 will arrive at European showrooms in fall 2016. It will do so with more abundant equipment than before, including xenon headlights (optional LED and Matrix LED), LED taillights, automatic emergency braking and MMI radio with a 7″ screen. In addition to the base model, the brand will offer Sport and Design trims, as well as many other customization options and an endless list of optional equipment.
