So much so that we already have electric vehicles with high autonomy for a reasonable price. That is the case of the new version of extended autonomy of the MG4, the electric compact from the Chinese brand that is now available for 30.480 euros with 520 kilometers of range.
Just a few days ago we told you about new MG4 XPower, a high performance version that is positioned as an interesting alternative for those looking for good performance in a compact size electric. Now, the chinese firm belonging to SAIC-Motor launches a new version of this model, although with a different approach.
Bigger battery, more charging power and more power to the wheels
It is a variant of extended autonomy, or Long Range. Well they call it MG4 Extended Range, and it is the version with the longest range through a charge of the range. In the approval data, it has approved a combined autonomy of 520 kilometers. All this has been achieved thanks to a new higher capacity battery, with 77 kWh specifically.
The thing does not stop there, because this version incorporates another series of improvements. For example, you can accept load powers up to 144 kW in direct current, that is, more than in the rest of the MG4 range. With this, you can go from 10 to 80% charge in 39 minutes.
In addition, they have taken advantage to improve performance with a higher performance engine. This more powerful engine, which is mounted on the rear axle, develops 180 kW (245 hp) and 350 Nm, with a top speed limited to 180 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6,5 seconds.
How much does the 4 kWh 77 PS MG245 Extended Range really cost?
This new version, which is now available in Spain, is sold associated with the Trophy finish. Among other things, it includes 18-inch wheels and a two-tone roof as standard to differentiate it from other finishes.
If we talk about prices, the MG4 Extended Range has an official rate of 40.690 euros, although they can stay at 30.480 with fine print. Said small print consists of a 7.000 euro discount for including the Moves III Plan and the launch and financing discount, which is 3.210 euros.
