The electrification of the automotive sector is going to be a game-changer. Virtually every brand is working to offer its customers models that not only provide a "decent" range but are also visually appealing. They started in the SUV segment and then moved into sedans, but it's the compact cars that are proving to be the most commercially successful. The proof is the new MG4 EV XPower, which debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed as the ultimate showcase of this trend.
The reborn MG is proof that doing things right leads to success. The MG4 is the electric compact everyone's talking about, and for good reason… It's the best-selling model in its range, and not only that, it's also the best-selling model in practically all of Europe. However, to demonstrate what its engineers are capable of, they've designed the ultimate sports version to "annihilate" its rivals : the MG4 EV XPower, which we're bringing you now…
The aesthetics of the new MG4 EV XPower is radical and very sporty…

If you cast your mind back a bit, you'll remember that a few days ago we told you about the official debut of the new Cyberster . It will take place at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which is just around the corner, but MG already hinted that there would be a couple of surprises alongside their new convertible. Back then, we mentioned that a possible high-performance version of the 4 Series might be about to be unveiled, and no, we weren't wrong. In fact, they've beaten Goodwood to the punch with these photos.
The aesthetics of the new MG4 EV XPower are radical and very sporty . In fact, to enhance its presence, its creators have taken the opportunity to include new aerodynamic enhancements, larger alloy wheels, and a set of yellow brake calipers that grip a new braking system . The four discs are now 345 mm and ventilated, reducing the braking distance to 33,9 meters. The tires are Bridgestone.
In summary, according to statements by Guy Pigounakis , commercial director of MG Motor UK…
"Subtle exterior design and specification enhancements include 'XPOWER' orange brake calipers , a two-tone black roof, new 18-inch alloy wheels and polished details, along with a new exclusive Racing Green color option ."
With 435 hp and 600 Nm of torque, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3,8 seconds… well ahead of rivals like the ID.3 GTX…

But the most important thing about the new MG4 EV XPower isn't its aesthetics , but all the technology it conceals and that brings it to life… To achieve this, MG engineers have given the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) a new twist . In this case, there's a completely new dual-motor configuration with up to 320 kW (435,2 hp) and 600 Nm of torque delivered to the ground through all four wheels (150 kW at the front and 170 kW at the rear).
As explained in their official press release…
"In addition to delivering hyper-competitive straight-line performance, the enhanced powertrain features sophisticated new technological upgrades to effectively distribute power and maximize driver input in corners."
Among the improvements they cite are the Dynamic Cornering Control System, which includes an electronic locking differential and Intelligent Motor Control to enhance torque vectoring between all four wheels. This optimizes traction, preventing power loss under certain driving conditions. They also mention a recalibrated regenerative braking software for one-pedal driving in specific situations.
Finally, the suspension includes a more racing-oriented spring and damper setup, as well as stiffer anti-roll bars and more precise steering. In short, the overall suspension stiffness has been increased by up to 25%. The saddest part is that it will only be available to order starting in July , and it's unknown whether it will arrive in Spain or remain exclusive to certain European countries… Volkswagen will be praying hard…
