The originally British and converted Chinese firm has just presented the new generation of the MG HS 2024, the older brother of the ZS that is achieving so much success on the private channel in our country. As such, it promises an important evolution in terms of digitalization and qualities in order to position itself as an even more direct family alternative to the Citroën C5 Aircross or Kia Sportage, among many others.
At first glance, the change that debuts at the front is very noticeable, with a new, more refined grille in which they add chrome elements and from which they remove the brand logo to place it on the highest area of the front. We also see much sharper optics and new bumpers that, together, provide a fresher, modern and more careful image of the Asian SUV.

Furthermore, this new HS grows at all levels: it is 45 mm longer (up to 4,67 meters), 14 mm wider (1,98 meters) and increases its wheelbase by another 45 mm (2,77 meters.) As the statement says, the Customer will be able to choose between five different body colors: White Pearl, Black Pearl, Sterling Silver Metallic, Hampstead Gray Metallic and Dynamic Red Tri-coat.
Behind closed doors it not only improves the appearance of the materials used for the upholstery and coverings, but also takes a step forward in terms of technology. A 169 HP gasoline and a plug-in with more than 100 km electric
The other big novelty is found in its mechanical range. There will still be an option of traditional gasoline with a 1.5 turbo engine with 169 hp and 275 Nm of torque that will be associated with a seven-speed automatic transmission, as well as a plug-in hybrid classified by the DGT as 0 Emissions. And of the two, it will be the latter that allows for the most improvements.
Specifically, the sum of the 142 HP of the 1.5 block and the 183 HP of the electric will provide a combined output of up to 339 hp, some 80 hp more than before. But its new 21,4 kWh battery will also be approved for 109 km of electric range.

Still, the Total autonomy will amount to about 1.000 km (even being able to surpass them in certain cases), while in terms of performance it promises a maximum speed of 200 km/h and a 0 to 100 km/h in 6,8 seconds.
The trunk of this plug-in HS will remain at 441 liters capacity, which will be around 65 liters less than the gasoline one.
