Last year, the three-pointed star brand launched an unusual offering for the German automaker, putting the Mercedes X-Class on sale . This pickup truck is a close relative of the Nissan Navara , as they share a platform. Months later, in the days leading up to the Geneva Motor Show, the company announced the launch of the Mercedes X-Class 350 d 4Matic , a new mechanical version.
With a 3-liter V6 diesel engine and permanent all-wheel drive , this 350 d 4Matic variant is currently positioned as the top-of-the-range version of this model. It is also paired with the 7G-Tronic Plus dual-clutch automatic transmission , featuring seven speeds and paddle shifters behind the steering wheel for driver control.
The 350 d 4Matic engine develops a maximum power of 258 hp at 3.400 rpm and 550 Nm of torque between 1.400 and 3.200 rpm. Its performance is remarkable, as it's unusual to find a pickup truck on the European market that accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7,5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 205 km/h. Its official combined fuel consumption (provisional) is 9 liters per 100 kilometers, with CO2 emissions of 237 g/km.
Thanks to its various driving modes , a system the brand calls Dynamic Select, the Mercedes pickup will offer different responses. The driving modes are: Comfort, Eco, Sport, Manual, and Offroad. The start/stop system is available in all modes except Offroad, to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
The all-wheel-drive system sends 40% of the torque to the front axle and the remaining 60% to the rear, improving its dynamic handling. The Mercedes X 350 d 4Matic comes standard with a low-range transfer case , featuring 4MAT (for enhanced dynamics), 4H (for improved off-road traction), and 4L (for low range) for steep inclines and challenging grip conditions. A rear differential lock is available as an option.
However, this version will not be available in the Mercedes-Benz X-Class until after the summer, when it will arrive at the brand's official dealerships in our country for a starting price of 55.964 euros , offered in the Progressive and Power trims.
