If there's one characteristic that defines Lotus's personality , it's the sportiness of its models . Since Sir Anthony Colin Bruce Chapman created his first car, this essence has remained to this day. The problem is that the market has evolved to a point where the Hethel-based company has never been comfortable. We're referring, of course, to the digitization and use of screens in their dashboards.
The reasons for avoiding these types of features are many and varied, but there's one basic and paramount one. Their cars are designed for driving and getting lost on a mountain road or racetrack. Therefore, they don't want their customers getting lost fiddling with unnecessary elements and buttons. However, there's still hope for including technology that will win over Lotus's most dedicated and loyal customers.
Lotus asks for this accessory €1.620 VAT included

Thanks to their technology department, they have created a new digital instrument cluster for the Elise and Exige V6 models manufactured from 2008 onwards. This plug-and-play system features a built-in GPS that allows drivers to track, record, and download all driving-related data. Its memory contains data from 4.127 race tracks around the world.
But it also includes more features that will delight the most daring drivers. It will include a camera to record racing lines and capture the best images of the session. To display information, the system has a six-inch color TFT screen that replaces the analog instrument cluster. Finally, it also displays data such as speed, oil temperature , and engine revolutions.
This upgrade, naturally, must be installed at an authorized service center . The cost is €1.620, including VAT and labor. Furthermore, to increase user confidence, this component comes with a 24-year warranty . So, if you own an Elise or Exige V6 manufactured after 2008 and you're interested, you can head to your nearest authorized service center to have this little gem installed. It's a shame our wallets can't stretch that far.
