As much as we might not want to see it, China was lying in wait, poised to dominate the world . The automotive sector was no exception, as evidenced by the transformation it has undergone in the last decade. Its technological level and quality have improved daily, and now, they are better prepared than ever to overtake us. The best example of this is the new paradigm that will reinvent the sector : electric mobility.
It's common for us to introduce you to a new model or brand focused on meeting this demand. One of the lesser-known, but certainly not new, is Leap Motors . Some time ago they presented the T01, a small coupé with a "curious" design that is gradually carving out a niche for itself in its home country. Now comes the Leap T03 , a charming utility vehicle that "unintentionally" bears a striking resemblance to a familiar model in Europe. Can you guess which one it is?
The Leap T03 looks like a Smart ForFour through and through
Yes, the Leap T03 looks very similar to the Smart ForFour . Not only in its body style, but also in its technical approach, as it's also available with a small electric motor. Externally, we see a friendly front end featuring LED headlights for all functions. Furthermore, it offers a trendy SUV side profile, thanks to its high ground clearance and discreet protective cladding.
The rear end is compact but stands out for the sophistication of its taillights. Here too, they've opted for LED technology, although with a design that is somewhat reminiscent of those used in the new Mercedes-Benz B-Class. Inside, it's clear that its creators have taken their project seriously. Highlights include a fully digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch floating touchscreen display.
The mechanical options are limited, but interesting in terms of performance. The Leap T03 is powered by an electric motor that delivers 75 hp and 155 Nm of maximum torque. It uses a 31 kWh lithium-ion battery for power. A second version with a larger 38 kWh battery will also be available . Thanks to both versions, it will offer impressive range.
Following the always optimistic NEDC homologation cycle, the range will be 300 kilometers for the smaller version and 400 kilometers for the larger one. Finally, there's its equipment and features. The Leap T03 will include adaptive cruise control , automatic climate control, keyless entry and start, and LED headlights. Its price? For now, it's unknown, although initially it will only be available on the Mydadao car-sharing platform.
