The new generation of the Lancia Ypsilon has become the automotive industry's worst-kept secret . It's not just that some spy photos leaked before its debut. It's that, thanks to a series of mishaps and blunders, we already know what its design looks like. The first thing to be revealed was its exterior, as a prototype ended up in a lake when the crew filming the launch commercial had an accident. And from then on, everything has gone smoothly…
These days, social media often does the work of automotive journalists, and the new Lancia Ypsilon is no exception. We've seen it countless times, both camouflaged and uncamouflaged, while its engineers conduct validation tests. And although the surprise is no longer a surprise, Lancia has continued with the teaser campaign instead of officially launching it, presumably to avoid overexposure. And here's their latest leak... or is it?
Despite everything, the design of the new Lancia Ypsilon is modern and very personal…

The spy photos we're sharing have come from various sources and photographers. What they all have in common is that they were captured while the Italian brand was filming several commercials for its debut . Thus, we can see the new Ypsilon from various angles, confirming what we all already knew. Its design draws inspiration from the Pu+Ra HPE, which they unveiled when they announced the brand's return with a new range of models…
Therefore, at this stage, it's difficult to be surprised by the design of the new Ypsilon . Nevertheless, it's a very important model, not only for the brand but also for the B segment. And the reason for this is quite simple: it has a design that, although based on the Corsa and 208, presents a very distinctive style. Just look at its front end with the evolution of Lancia's "Chalice" grille or the headlights integrated into the bumper.
Then, the side view reveals more of the same. The rear door handles are concealed in the C-pillar, just as they were in the generation still sold in Italy. This gives it a coupé-like style, further emphasized by the return of the brand's logo on this pillar . All of this is complemented by crossover-style wheel arches which, although lacking protective plastic moldings, lend it an air of sophistication.
Finally, we must examine its rear end. As we mentioned when Lancia released the teaser for this area, the influence of the legendary Stratos is immediately apparent . These taillights feature an internal "Y" pattern and are joined in the center by a black plastic trim piece that incorporates the LANCIA name. Below this is the detail that reminds us we are looking at the Ypsilon, set atop a concave and convex tailgate that flows into a simple bumper.
From inside, its interior will not only be original, but also of quality and very technological...

And finally, let's talk about the interior of the new Lancia Ypsilon . If you recall, the teaser the brand released focused on the interior. To be precise, they showed what appeared to be a "table," which they've dubbed the "Tavolino ." Well, thanks to the new photos, we can see how it looks on the dashboard. And not only that, we also know it will have a large digital instrument cluster…
Alongside it will be a generous central touchscreen which, while its size is unknown, appears to be identical to the one in the virtual cockpit. Furthermore, the control center for the new SALA infotainment system sits directly above the instrument cluster, appearing as a floating element. The remaining design elements seem quite simple, but although the photos are not of high quality, it appears that the climate control will not have physical buttons.
However, it seems Lancia doesn't have many secrets left to keep about the Ypsilon. In fact, some of the powertrain options are already known. First, there will be a 156 hp electric motor powered by a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery. There will also be a 1.2 PureTech 48-volt hybrid with 136 hp paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, and an HPE electric motor with up to 240 hp.
