- suspension triangles: are suspension components that connect to the vehicle's chassis and wheels. They can be lower triangles and upper triangles, and their function is to maintain the position and control the vertical movement of the wheels.
- Silent blocks: They are rubber or polyurethane elements that are used in the suspension and steering to provide isolation and vibration absorption. They are found at various mounting points, such as the suspension triangles and other steering components, and help improve vehicle comfort and stability.
These are some of the main parts of a car's steering, but keep in mind that the exact configuration and components may vary depending on each vehicle's specific steering system and design.
Power steering
La power steering It is a system designed to facilitate the movement of the steering wheel and provide a smoother and more comfortable steering for the driver, especially at low speeds and during parking manoeuvres. Helps reduce the effort required to turn the steering wheel, making the vehicle easier to control.
There are various types of power steering systems, but the most common is hydraulic power steering and electric power steering:
- Hydraulics:
- power steering pump- A belt-driven motor supplies the hydraulic power for the system. The power steering pump, usually driven by the vehicle's engine, forces pressurized hydraulic fluid into the system.
- Control valve: The hydraulic fluid is directed to a control valve that regulates the flow of fluid based on the movement of the steering wheel.
- Power steering cylinder: Hydraulic fluid under pressure is directed to a power steering cylinder, which is connected to the vehicle's steering gear.
- Turning assistance: When the driver turns the steering wheel, the control valve senses the movement and directs more flow of hydraulic fluid to the power steering cylinder, helping to turn the wheels with less effort.
- Electrical:
- Electric motor: In this system, the electric motor is located on the steering column or directly in the steering gear.
- Direction sensor: A sensor detects the position and movement of the steering wheel and sends this information to the system's electronic controller.
- Turning assistance: Based on information from the steering sensor, the electronic controller determines the amount of assistance required and activates the electric motor to provide the necessary assistance.
Possible faults in the direction

Here are some possible faults that can occur in a car's steering system:
- play in steering: Refers to excessive play or loose movement in the steering wheel when turning. It can be caused by wear on steering components such as tie rod ends or steering box gears. Backlash can affect steering precision and response, which can be dangerous and require repair.
