Jeep already debuted its first 100% electric vehicle recently in Europe with the most powerful versions of the new Avenger. However, Stellantis' small SUV is not sold globally, and the one that is will have the privilege of becoming the first Jeep of zero emissions worldwide will be this new Jeep Wagoneer S.
The family SUV that will arrive to position the American brand alongside BMW and Audi, rivaling its iX and Q8 e-tron, will begin to be marketed initially in the United States and Canada this year and then head to the rest of the markets where the firm is present.
The Jeep Wagoneer S is the most aerodynamic Jeep in history
In essence, the Wagoneer aims to collect the main features of the new Grand Cherokee further accentuating the modern and technological aspect. We have good proof of this in the grill with seven vertical slats, which for the first time will be available with backlighting. It advertises a Cx of 0,29, which is the lowest drag coefficient in Jeep history.
The photos that accompany its official presentation make it clear that It is a five-seater SUV., although the truth is that it would not be surprising to see versions with up to three rows of seats in the future, as the Wagoneer Concept prototype announced back in 2020.
As the main part of the propulsion system, a series of electric motors take center stage that deliver a maximum of 600 HP of power and 800 Nm of instant torque, allowing it to catapult from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3,4 seconds. Given its shapes and 2,5 tons, it is not bad at all... In addition, its performance is completed with a Selec-Terrain traction management system that provides an important plus in traffic tasks. offroad (in fact, it will offer five different driving modes: Auto, Sport, Eco, Snow and Sand) and that will be improved in a future Trailhawk version aimed more specifically at 4×4.
Offers 500 km of approved autonomy
To power the drivetrain, the Wagoneer S Equipped with a 100 kWh battery which, according to first information, will provide a theoretical range of 500 km with each recharge. As usual, and despite not having 800 volt technology, users will be able to charge from 20 to 80% of their capacity in 23 minutes, as long as they can connect to a direct current outlet.
The skeleton on which the Wagoneer S will be built will be the new STLA Large platform reserved for the luxury models of the group led by Carlos Tavares. Therefore, it will share elements with the successor to the Alfa Romeo Giulia, with the next Maserati Levante or with the new Dodge Charger Daytona. A very interesting detail of the STLA Large platform is that it allows the incorporation of both thermal engines and 100% electric systems.
The technological load continues with the three screens that run along the dashboard: two 12,3-inch ones for the instrumentation and the UConnect 5 infotainment system and one that seems to be a little smaller so that the co-pilot does not get bored on longer trips. It also promises OTA updates, a multitude of driving assistants, a McIntosh stereo with 19 speakers and a 1.160-watt amplifier, etc.
In North America it will reach dealerships in the second half of 2024, so it could still take some time to be available within our borders. one or two more years.
