The second generation of the Suzuki Ignis is updated. One of the most original models, of how many there are on the market, faces its second commercial stage with renewed air. It does, to keep that touch «manga» that we like so much, but at the same time causes many clients not to finish noticing it. Something we do not understand, because it is a well-designed product, with a logical mechanical offer and first class technology.
The first market to receive the restyling of the Ignis is Japan. It could not be otherwise, because its reason for being emanates from the kei car concept. For this reason, the Asian firm has decided to publish the first data and information on the work carried out on its website. Now the little nippon looks fresher and younger, maintaining its essence and basic lines of design. Especially at the rear, with a marked "C" pillar and those peculiar light groups.
The Suzuki Ignis faces 2020 with subtle aesthetic changes
At the front, as expected, there are subtle improvements. A) Yes, receives a grille that abandons the horizontal stripes brand new five vertical bars adorned with chrome accents. The optical groups do not change their appearance, although their interior has been slightly darkened. The shape of the bumper does not change, looking simple as well as elegant.
Those all-wheel drive versions, they receive specific bumpers with own details. The main change between one version and another lies in the position of the anti-fog and the simulated defense. Noteworthy is the inclusion of a smaller rear diffuser which is painted in the same tone as the bodywork. Where there are no substantial changes is in the side view, which is limited to including new alloy wheels.
Inside the new Ignis there are also changes. The central display for multimedia system grows in size. The materials and textures also evolve, with new upholstery and appliqués. In addition, security is increased, since the Suzuki Safety Support system, which brings together all the active driving aids. Among the most outstanding is the autonomous braking system with recognition of pedestrians and cyclists.
Finally, we must mention mechanical offer. In Japan, the 1.2 SHVS version with 90 hp associated with the automatic transmission by continuous variator CVT. The power can reach the ground through the front axle or all four wheels if you opt for the AWD all-wheel drive. All in all, the European debut of the revamped Suzuki Ignis should take place at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
