The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is one of the most attractive electric models on the market . When it was launched three years ago, we were thrilled because it masterfully reinterpreted the lines of the iconic Pony. Admittedly, there wasn't much to see between that model and the new electric one beyond a few design elements. But its futuristic design and top-tier technology have led it to win, among other accolades, the 2022 World Car of the Year award. But there's still much more…
The updated Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Line has now been unveiled, giving its image a significant refresh. You'll have to look closely to spot the changes, but they're there. Most are subtle but truly worthwhile, and most notably, it includes a feature that many criticized when we had the chance to test it. Furthermore, its technology has also been updated, with a substantial improvement to its battery, which will also provide extended range. Take note…
The aesthetics of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Line improve with subtle changes including the rear windshield wiper...

Hyundai has opted for a conservative approach with the changes, but more importantly, they've listened to their customers. This is evident in the inclusion of, for example, the rear window wiper . Admittedly, given the body design, it wasn't strictly necessary, but rear visibility was never quite as good as it would have been with this feature. However, the most significant changes aren't in this area, although their addition is perhaps worth noting.
As you've read, this is the Renault 5 N Line, a sporty trim level positioned between the standard range and the radical 650-hp N model. It features new racing-inspired bumpers with a unique design, increasing its length by 2 centimeters to 4,65 meters. It also boasts a new rear spoiler and a new set of exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels with aerodynamic enhancements.
To recognize this N Line version, there are a couple of details to note. The first is the logo on the grille, and the second is the inverted "V" shape of the bumper. Inside, there are also changes. In the center of the dashboard, there's a new row of physical buttons for managing various quick access functions. These include heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, and parking assist.
Another change is the mobile phone charging pad, which has been upgraded to a medium size. The steering wheel now features interactive LEDs, and the infotainment and climate controls have been revised . Additionally, a new infotainment system called Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) is available, which integrates over-the-air (OTA) updates. Finally, new active driving aids have been added, such as a steering wheel with Hands-On Detection (HOD).
Its technique is also updated with a more capable battery…

As we've already mentioned, the new Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Line is positioned in the range as a sporty trim level. In essence, as with the brand's combustion-engine models bearing this name, it doesn't change radically. It's more of a visual upgrade than a technical revolution. However, the Korean brand has given its electric system a slight boost by including a higher-capacity battery , thus increasing its range.
The battery capacity has been increased to 84 kWh, up from the previous 77,4 kWh . While its range is currently unknown, it should increase by approximately 50 kilometers. The rear engine compartment also features improved sound insulation, enhancing passenger comfort. Finally, the suspension has been updated, and reinforcements have been added to the body, doors, and areas such as the B-pillar.
However, we'll still have to wait a little while to see the new Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Line . The Asian automaker indicates that its launch in its home country, South Korea, will take place at the end of March. Then, it will gradually arrive in the other markets where it's present, so we still have several months to wait. To see it in Europe, we'll have to wait until at least summer, and that's when its prices will be revealed.
