The coronavirus has affected all sports, including motorsport. Of all the active competitions across all motorsport categories, only the Rally Mexico has taken place, but apart from that, nothing else. The sport has come to a complete standstill due to Covid-19 . This was the case in F1, which saw the start of the 2020 F1 season cut short, and it is still unknown for how long, or whether the canceled races will be able to resume later.
Fans , now with more time than ever at home, need some distraction. It would be a great time to enjoy watching races and track action, but instead, it's a time for social responsibility, to stay home to avoid infecting others and being infected, and we need to be resourceful to get through these tough times in the best way possible. But there is something that could help, and that's e-sports…

Video games are n't the only way to pass the time at home and unwind. Racing drivers themselves know this, which is why they've organized e-sports competitions, such as the non-GP of Australia where Lando Norris finished 6th after starting last, or Courtois' victory over F1 drivers, with Stoffel Vandoorne finishing second. Another competition is the one organized by Veloce Esports, with Daniel Bereznay leading the pack.
And I say… now that we're in this era where so many people are volunteering to do their bit, F1 drivers and drivers from other motorsports categories could also do things like the ones I mentioned earlier. Have a good time, and entertain the fans, who, lacking real cars, can at least have virtual ones streamed on platforms like YouTube. Don't you think?
E-sports can overcome situations of inactivity like these, and many sponsors could even generate revenue through advertising on streaming platforms, etc.
