This is especially true because the legendary DMC-12 had a complicated commercial life that only brought it fame after the brand had disappeared. As you already know, because we've mentioned it several times, the DeLorean Alpha 5's design is the work of one of the most acclaimed designers: Italdesign . However, although the entire team drew inspiration from the DMC-12 for the basic design lines, there are some entirely new features. The remaining elements that make up its appearance are new, and although attractive and modern, they remind us of other models. According to DeLorean, the new Alpha5 measures 4,99 meters long , 2,04 meters wide, and 1,37 meters high with the doors closed. However, the combination of fluid and simple lines that run along the body makes it impossible not to think of the latest version of the Chrysler Airflow presented by Stellantis.
However, we also can't overlook the striking color combination with its contrasting black roof . As for the headlights, they all feature LED technology, and the taillights, although completely new, are designed to emulate those of the DMC-12. If the exterior of the new DeLorean Alpha5 is a blend of concepts, the interior is much the same. As expected, its cabin has four individual seats, although the rear ones aren't very spacious. For its design, the Italdesign team opted to eliminate most of the "normal" controls, integrating them into the touchscreen . In this case, unlike many of its rivals, it's located in the center console in a floating position.
Below it are a series of controls, but the brand hasn't explained their function. However, the driver has a configurable digital instrument cluster directly in front of and behind the flat-rimmed steering wheel at the bottom . Its size is unknown, but judging by the information displayed and its size, it easily exceeds 12,5 inches. The rest of the design is simple, and the overall quality , at least visually, appears to be good.
Electric train powered by a battery of more than 100 kWh for record performance…
Finally, let's talk about the powertrain that will propel the new DeLorean Alpha 5. As you've already read more than once, it's 100% electric , but we won't have all the details until its debut next August. Regarding performance, they indicate it will need 3,4 seconds to go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour . They also state that the top speed will be 241 kilometers per hour and will be electronically limited.
