Surprise! The Cupra el-Born is official and does not come under the Seat brand

Cupra el Born

Cupra presents its first electric car . While it initially seemed that Seat would be launching the el-Born model, as Seat indicated , this compact electric car will ultimately be the Cupra el-Born . Its market launch is scheduled for 2021.

Logically, it's a product based on the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform , which, as you know, is designed exclusively for electric vehicles. Therefore, although it hasn't been officially confirmed, it will likely share many of the Volkswagen ID.3 's technical components . However, its aesthetics and tuning will be quite different.

It will be manufactured at the German plant in Zwickau.

Cupra el-Born front

There's no doubt that this new Cupra el-Born perfectly embodies the Cupra philosophy. Just look at its aggressive styling , with sporty lines despite its compact body. The entire exterior is striking, from the front bumper to the headlights, hood, and wheels. Also, notice the large glass area and the slim A-pillars. Unfortunately, there are no photos of the rear yet.

The interior of this 100% electric car looks very high-tech. The brand says it was designed to embody the Cupra philosophy, citing quality and sophistication. The sporty steering wheel with its dedicated driving mode button and the bucket-style sport seats are particularly striking.

Cupra el-Born dashboard

The company hasn't said much about the performance figures, but has offered a few details. It's a car that accelerates from 0 to 50 km/h in just 2,9 seconds , and its 77 kWh battery will give it a range of up to 500 kilometers.

On the other hand, the Cupra el-Born will have a specific chassis setup with the DCC adaptive suspension system . “ This not only offers different damper firmness adjustment options, but also guarantees the highest level of dynamism for an electric vehicle .”
