The greatest among the greats. The Skoda Superb It is the great sedan of the Czech brand for the European D segment. It represents the maximum comfort and the maximum luxury of a brand that continues to grow by leaps and bounds. Although its beginnings date back to 1934, it was not until 2001 when the model achieved success.

And he did it with a very clear premise: quality/price ratio. Like every Skoda product, the Superb is able to demonstrate that it is not necessary to pay a lot to have almost everything. We are talking about one of the most balanced and best presented sedans in the segment, a segment that stands out for the presence of illustrious names.

Today The Skoda Superb reaches its fourth generation, presented at the end of 2023. This generation shows interesting new features compared to its predecessor, although it does not show a big change in the aesthetic section. Despite this, the largest sedan from the Czech company debuts plug-in hybrid technologies and mechanics with great electrical autonomy.

Technical characteristics of the Skoda Superb

Skoda Superb 2024

Skoda belongs to one of the largest automobile conglomerates in the world, the Volkswagen Group. This allows you to have access to shared developments with your group sisters. The Skoda Superb uses the latest version of the German giant's MQB platform with the same configuration as the Volkswagen Passat. However, the Czechs have adapted it to improve habitability and load levels.

Its dimensions are 4,91 meters long, 1,85 meters wide and 1,48 meters high. Measures that, as we already said, perfectly encompass it in segment D. To these levels we must add a wheelbase of 2,84 meters with which an outstanding interior space is generated even for the occupants of the rear seats.

There are two bodies sold under the Superb name: saloon, Combi. The latter is a family version that shows a considerable increase in trunk capacity. This in turn generates different cargo volumes. 645 liters is the minimum volume of the sedan, while in the Superb Combi that minimum volume grows to 690 liters.

Mechanical range and gearboxes of the Skoda Superb

The launch of the fourth generation at the end of 2023 allowed Skoda to introduce a completely revised and updated mechanical range to comply with the most current emissions regulations. The offer includes diesel and gasoline units, MHEV systems with ECO label and the most modern units with plug-in hybrid technology and ZERO label from the DGT. As a novelty, the entire family is associated with a six or seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.

The range, by power, starts with the units 1.5 TSI mHEV and 2.0 TDI with 150 horsepower. The gasoline offer is completed with the Super 2.0 TDI with 193 horsepower which is always associated with an all-wheel drive system. Gasoline units are completed with the engine 2.0 TSI that offers two levels of possible performance: 204 and 265 horsepower. This latest version always comes together with an all-wheel drive scheme, being the most powerful alternative from the house.

As a great novelty we find the Super PHEVs. After a change in configuration, the 1.4 TSI block disappears from the range to make way for a 1.5 TSI engine that is associated with an electric motor and a large lithium-ion battery with 25,7 kWh capacity. He Superb 1.5 PHEV develops 204 horsepower, 350 Nm of torque and announces an electric range of 100 kilometers under the WLTP homologation cycle. For recharging, opt for feeders of up to 50 kW in direct current and up to 11 kW in alternating current.

Equipment of the Skoda Superb

The Skoda Superb is the flagship of the house, and that means that it is capable of showing the most important advances of the house. Thanks to the new generation of 2023, systems and technology that until then were elusive are introduced. The range is structured in the finishes: Selection and Laurin & Klement, which, as is customary in the house, is positioned as the most complete and best finished version of the entire family.

At its starting level we find elements such as air conditioning, multimedia system with 10-inch touch panel, keyless start, digital instrumentation, three-zone climate control, rear parking camera, connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay devices and full LED headlights. In addition to a complete and well-nourished team of driving assistants.

It is in the upper levels that the Superb goes haywire, and it is in them that we can reach the maximum technological load of the car. The Skoda Superb of Km 0 and Second Hand

Over the years and its generations the Superb has accumulated a good number of units sold. This fact has caused the second-hand and occasion market is well stocked with units at reasonable prices. For various reasons, the percentage of depreciation of the model is somewhat lower than that of its rivals, so the prices of used models are relatively low.

The cheapest units correspond to first generation models from the years 2004 and 2005. Given the excellent durability of those first units we find great mileages. Despite this, the price is never less than 1.200 euros. The Km 0 channel is provided mostly by post-restyling models from 2019 onwards. In that case, the prices usually include a small discount compared to the official ones, but with intermediate finishes and mostly access mechanical ranges.
