Citroën C3: Starts its sale in Mercosur and gives clues of what could come

New Citroën C3 Mercosur

You might not know this, but Citroën is one of the brands with the strongest presence in South America . In recent years, they've been working hard to compete with one of the fastest-growing brands. That brand is now part of their group, and that's none other than Fiat. Yes, the double-chevron brand has been trying to overtake the Turin-based automaker for years without success, but that shouldn't matter to them anymore. Especially now that they're working together, and the results of one ultimately benefit the other…

Now that SUVs are more popular than ever, especially in this region of the world, Citroën has made a strong commitment to them. That's why the new generation of the Citroën C3 has evolved, leaving the city car segment behind and making the leap to the crossover segment. We already told you about it a few weeks ago, as the model arriving in Brazil and neighboring countries is the same one that was launched in India . Do you remember them both? Well, you should, because of this…

The new Citroën C3 for Mercosur will go on sale in April...

As you can see, the design of the new Citroën C3 for Mersocuro is fresh and youthful . It follows the design language we already know from the new Citroën C5 X and the updated C5 Aircross. Interestingly, this C3 will be positioned as the entry-level model in the brand's lineup, just below the C4 Cactos, which recently left the European market. It will remain available here for a while longer, although its replacement may already be in the works.

According to the official press release …

"The new Citroën C3 is the first vehicle revealed in a family of three models developed and manufactured in South America over the next three years. It's a modern hatchback with a unique design . Full of strength and personality, Citroën expresses its originality in this model, which was carefully designed for the Brazilian and South American market ."

These aesthetic concessions are evident in details such as the ride height , wheel arches, and door airbumps. Inside, the materials chosen aren't the most striking in terms of quality or fit and finish. However, they are noteworthy for their personalization, as the dashboard trim will come standard in Steel Grey or Metallic Blue. Interestingly, the 9-inch central touchscreen display is a striking feature.

However, we learned a few hours ago that Stellantis is working on a new electric model for Citroën . All the rumors suggest it's the new C3 and that it could even join the SUV ranks. For now, nothing is certain, but if so, it could follow the design inspiration seen in this Mercosur model. Would you like to see the stylish French city car make the leap and switch sides?
