Last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show , we had the opportunity to see a Chinese-made vehicle that didn't disappoint the public and critics attending the German event. The Chery Exeed TX showcased the design of a compact SUV that had been developed specifically for the European market. However, several details were left unclear during its presentation, such as the "approximate" launch date.
At the time, Chery representatives confirmed that the Exeed TX was powered by a plug-in hybrid system . The system consisted of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 150 hp paired with a 116 hp electric motor, allowing it to travel up to 70 kilometers without emitting a single gram of CO2. It featured all-wheel drive (developed by BorgWarner) managed by a 7-speed automatic transmission.

According to Chery representatives , the technological level achieved with the Exeed TX puts it on par with models like the Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4. For this reason, they are working to launch it in the European market in 2020. Therefore, they have spent the last year finalizing important details such as the infotainment system , developed in conjunction with the Chinese giant Baidu and equipped with artificial intelligence.
One of its selling points will be the 10,1-inch screen for controlling the infotainment system. Apparently, the interior build quality of the Chery Exeed TX will be on par with that of leading European SUVs. All in all, the concept car unveiled last year looked very promising, although we'll have to wait and see the production models.
For now, Chery has decided to launch the Exeed TX in the United States next year. Before making the leap to Europe in 2020, they will open a technical center in Frankfurt, Germany . There, they will fine-tune the versions that will be sold in Europe. The reason for this is that Anning Chen, Chery's President, wants to increase sales in key markets outside of China.
