Derbi

Derbi is a major Spanish motorcycle manufacturer. Currently the brand is owned by the Italian group Piaggio. The company began in 1922 repairing bicycles and in 1949 it ventured to build the first motorcycle. DERBI is a contraction of the expression DERIVATIVE OF BICYCLE. Derbi's original factory is located in Martorellas (Catalonia). In 2011 Piaggio announced that it would close the factory and transfer production to factories outside of Spain, applying an ERE of extinction to its 150 employees.
