After several months of waiting, I'd even venture to say years, the Bavarian brand has finally decided to unveil the new generation of one of its most beloved models among fans and lovers of two-seater sports cars: the BMW Z4 . The chosen location for the presentation was Pebble Beach, very close to Monterey , where last year the concept car that previewed this BMW Z4 was shown.
Thus, the German company has unveiled its two-seater convertible with a launch edition called the First Edition , which is only available with the high-performance BMW Z4 M40i variant , in the Frozen Orange color seen in the images. It also includes 19-inch alloy wheels with a meticulously crafted design, a fairly comprehensive equipment package , and black exterior mirror caps.
Meanwhile, inside we find black Vernasca leather upholstery, power seats with memory function, and a powerful Harman Kardon sound system . Also noteworthy is the comprehensive Head-Up Display and the new digital instrument cluster , a direct descendant of the one introduced just a few weeks ago in the BMW 8 Series.
The commercial launch of the BMW Z4 will be in the second quarter of 2019
Looking at the specifications of this BMW Z4 M40i , under the hood we find the well-known 3-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, which develops a maximum power of 340 hp . According to the manufacturer, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4,6 seconds.
Continuing with the dynamism of the new Z4, the M40i also features an electronically controlled suspension that varies its stiffness depending on road conditions and the selected driving mode, a powerful braking system by M Sport, and an electronically controlled differential to ensure greater precision when exiting corners.
BMW says this presentation is a preview of the BMW Z4's debut. The Bavarian automaker will announce all the details of the new variants, technical specifications, and other equipment features of the Z4 on September 19. The official public unveiling will take place at the Paris Motor Show on October 2.
