BMW's foray into electric mobility has been lukewarm but steady . Paving the way with the i3 and i8 has been largely ineffective, as demand for these models was negligible. The heart of the market lies in areas that its rivals, Audi and Mercedes-Benz, have swiftly addressed. Even Lexus, with the UX 300e, has overtaken them, and without even signaling. However, the solution is on its way, and it's called the BMW iX3.
From the moment we first saw the BMW iX3 until today, the wait has felt endless. Even knowing they were pressed for time, they didn't want to take any risks, as it's a product with a lot riding on it. For this reason, they carried out validation and testing that lasted more than 340 hours, covering over 7.700 kilometers . All of this is to ensure the reliability and quality of its electric powertrain positions it as a benchmark in the market.
For now, the BMW iX3 will not be sold in the United States

Once the technical development process was complete , it was time to choose how production would be carried out. To minimize production costs, the joint venture BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) in China will handle the manufacturing. Specifically, the designated factory is the BBA Plant Dadong, which has already begun assembling pre-production units to fine-tune the machinery assigned to the process.
This last point is what BMW has chosen to promote the iX3 once again. To do so, they've used a camera and started taking "spy" photos of their electric SUV . The catch is that the units they captured were still camouflaged, thus ensuring their appearance remains well protected. Nevertheless, the final design of the front and rear is becoming increasingly clear.
In summary, we can confirm that the iX3's exterior design will be very similar to the current X3. The main differences will be limited to the addition of some blue accents and new bumper tweaks. Inside, the changes will also be subtle, although it will almost certainly feature a new digital cockpit. Connectivity will also be updated to integrate battery and powertrain management.
The first units, each with an assigned customer, will roll off the assembly line at the end of summer . However, they won't arrive in showrooms for delivery before the end of the year. Their official unveiling should take place sometime between then and now, though we don't yet have a date for it. We'll be keeping a close eye on any news the brand releases.
