The electrification of the automotive sector is leading brands to choose a variety of solutions. BMW pioneered this path in the premium segment and has the most experience. With the i3 and i8, they paved the way, but it wasn't enough to win over the public. Perhaps because both models were unique and their price wasn't affordable for everyone. But that's about to change with the range of SUVs they're developing based on the "i" family.
A few days ago we told you that the new electric flagship from BMW will be unveiled very soon. Well, now it's time to talk about the BMW iX1 , the electric SUV that will be the entry-level model in its lineup. The announcement of its debut came with the release of a teaser image that reveals some details of its front end . But that's not the only detail they've shared with this announcement. Stay tuned…
The official debut of the new BMW iX1 will take place before the second half of 2022…

Before revealing the few technical secrets that have been disclosed, let's take a look at the design of the BMW iX1 . It's not that we see much, as the teaser is not only dark but also very brief. However, the company's creative team has clearly defined some of its features, such as the grille and headlights . Both follow the style seen on the iX3 that's already on sale, and, especially in the case of the grille, it won't be an enormous size like the one on the M3.
The bumper appears to have strong, defined lines , at least judging by the exterior contours. However, these lines shouldn't be too pronounced if the goal is to maximize aerodynamic efficiency and, consequently, range. Finally, there will be blue accents , the color chosen by BMW to announce that this is an electrified version. And that's all we can say for now, because going any further would be venturing into the realm of speculation, and we're not going to do that for the time being.
However, if we take a look at the message accompanying this teaser image , we can understand what Bayerische is looking for…
“Starting at the end of the year, the new BMW iX1 will be our fully electric offering for customers in the high-volume premium compact segment.”
And the best part is that they've announced the battery pack's range. According to BMW, the iX1 will have a range of approximately 413 to 438 kilometers according to the WLTP homologation protocol . However, they also indicate that these figures correspond to the values projected at the model's current stage of development. Therefore, this figure could increase or decrease when it's closer to market launch. And all of this will happen before the end of 2022…
We will have to be patient...
