The BMW iX1 -the electric X1- already has a price, but hold on to the chair!

BMW iX1 profile

BMW launched the third generation of its successful compact SUV , the BMW X1, several months ago. One of the main new features of this model, in addition to the exterior and interior styling changes, is the inclusion, for the first time, of a fully electric variant. It's called the BMW iX1, and the commercial designation for this first electric powertrain is xDrive30.

The electric compact SUV incorporates the latest BMW eDrive technology , such as high-efficiency charging with improved software and a flat , high-density 64,7 kWh battery that gives it a homologated range of between 414 and 440 kilometers , depending on the equipment. It's not an outstanding figure, to be honest.

Before discussing the price the German brand is asking for this new iX1, it's worth remembering that this first electric xDrive30 version is all-wheel drive , with an electric motor on each axle. Maximum power is 313 hp , including a Boost mode, while torque reaches 494 Nm. As with many high-performance electric vehicles, acceleration is excellent. The BMW iX1 xDrive30 needs only 5,6 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h.

All of this is great, but what about the price? Well, that's probably one of the main drawbacks, although it's also true that there aren't any cars currently at a reasonable price. BMW is asking €56.400 for this BMW iX1 xDrive30 . That's a "normal" amount for an electric car from a premium brand and nearly 4,5 meters long.

Depending on the uses, needs, and preferences of each customer, it can be a good alternative . But if you're going to use it frequently for traveling, I'm afraid you'd be better off opting for a traditional BMW X1 engine or, in any case, one of the plug-in hybrid options also available in this German compact SUV.
