El BMW Serie 3 It is one of the main pillars of the bavarian brand for almost half a century. Proof of this is that they have been sold 20 million units. Now, with the high demand for SUV vehicles, the sedan does not have the great commercial impact that it achieved a few years ago; but that doesn't mean it stops being an interesting, elegant, sporty and efficient car.
La seventh generation of the D-segment saloon presents an update, the start of production of which is scheduled for this summer. Visually we can differentiate it by the changes in the color palette and tire styles. And it is that The main new features focus on the equipment and mechanics.
Changes to the steering wheel and multimedia system
In the cabin it is also difficult to find changes. We will have to focus mainly on the steering wheels, which are of new design for both the 3 Series Sedan and the 3 Series Touring. Standard is a newly designed two-spoke leather sports steering wheel. The M Sport package adds a new M leather steering wheel with three spokes, a flat-bottom rim and a discreet central marking at the 12 o'clock position, as seen in the image below.
Finally, the cams are standard
To this we must add that the multimedia system evolves. The size remains the same, with 12,3 inches for the instrument panel and 15 for the central touch screen. What does change is that it now has the BMW iDrive 8.5 system. We least like that the climate control temperature is carried out using touch controls on the screen, instead of physical buttons.
In Spain it is offered with three gasoline engines, four diesel engines and a plug-in hybrid option. The main novelty comes from the PHEV option, as its battery capacity grows to 19,5 kWh. Its electric range increases to 101 km in the case of the BMW 330e Berlina.
