The Audi R8 will return in 2027 as a plug-in hybrid with Lamborghini technology

El Audi R8 is set to return in 2027, but this time with a completely renewed approach. After the end of production of its second generation last year, the German brand has decided to bring back its iconic supercar, although with an important evolution in its mechanics: it will be a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) which will maintain its sporty essence but adapted to the new electrification trends.

One of the highlights of this future Audi R8 is its close relationship with the new Lamborghini Temerario. As with previous generations, the new Audi model will take the Italian supercar's propulsion technology and architecture as a reference, which promises top-level performance. In this way, in addition to improving its commercial image, it takes advantage of the synergies that exist within the group.

Design and technical features…

The new Audi R8 will retain aggressive aerodynamics and a design designed to offer a balance between sportiness and daily use. The platform used will be the same as that of the Lamborghini Temerario, although with certain adjustments to adapt to Audi's philosophy. The model will have a 3,8 kWh lithium-ion battery, strategically located in the central tunnel to promote weight distribution.

The heart of the new Audi R8 will be a biturbo V8 engine 4.0-litre engine, known internally as the L411. This engine will have a flat-plane crankshaft and will be capable of generating around 800 hp, with a torque of 730 Nm that is delivered progressively between 4.000 and 7.000 rpm. It will be available in coupe and convertible versions, and the possibility of future variants with even greater power is not ruled out, potentially exceeding 1.000 hp in special editions.

Another key aspect will be its acceleration capacity. It is estimated that the new R8 will be able to go from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 3 seconds, with a maximum speed close to 330 km/h. This will place it in the elite of electrified supercars.
