From new BMW 3.0 CSL, presented in 2022, will only be built 50 copies, one of which will arrive in Spain as recently confirmed by the manufacturer itself. It will be sold by auction. This unique sports car, which was specifically developed to celebrate the Motorsport's fiftieth anniversary (or BMW M, the sports division of the brand), has a design inspired by the original 3.0 CSL, a high-performance coupé produced between 1971 and 1975.
The only modern 3.0 CSL unit to receive the subsidiary of BMW in our market (which, moreover, we share with Portugal) is the number 41 of the fifty that are programmed. They are all going to be built one way. almost entirely handmade (each one takes ten days to complete), although the powertrain to be fitted to them is known, as it is also used in other mainstream BMW models. In fact, will be used on the basis of a M4 coupe, but then many modifications will be made on the chassis, the bodywork and other elements in order to lighten the car.
The aforementioned mechanical assembly is composed of a gasoline engine with twin turbo, six cylinders in line, 3 liters of displacement and 560 CV of power (10 CV more than a M4 CSL). This is attached to a Manual gearbox 6 relations with a lever that, in the words of BMW, has very short and precise paths. All the force is transmitted to the rear axle. Its benefits are not known, but its power to weight ratio: 2,9 kg/hp, which is very little.
La sale management of the 41/50 unit in question will carry it out Iberian BMW through an auction. It is not a common commercial formula in this company, but It is a very special vehicle and it is the fairest way that the managers of the German firm have found in Spain so that this car is awarded through an equitable system of opportunities for the multiple stakeholders that exist. For this, the company has been contracted SoulAuto Investments, dedicated to this type of bidding "to the highest bidder".
El starting price for said copy will be 605.000 euros before tax, which translates into about 800.000 if VAT and the registration fee applicable to this product in Spain are included (if delivered in Portugal, the price would be a little different). Any money raised in excess of this initial RRP will be donated entirely to a charitable cause that BMW has not yet wanted to communicate. We do not dare to give any estimate, but most likely we are talking about several million euros.
If you are so lucky that you have these amounts and your intention is to buy it, a page has been set up between February 14 and 28 for the registration in the process and this one for participate in the bid. Of course, you should know that you can only apply for it if, previously, you were already a verified customer (new vehicle or first hand) of BMW M. Otherwise, go forgetting about him.
