Alpine has communicated a few minutes ago that next Tuesday, May 9, they will present a new showcar. The name for this prototype is Alpine A290B, referring that last “B” to “beta”. They say from the automobile company that will anticipate the future of the vehicle urban, sporty and electric of the brand, which "will reinvent the concept of sportsmanship."
They also comment from Alpine that the choice of this nomenclature is not accidental, that it makes sense. Follow the strategy of using the A -for Alpine- followed by three numbers. Can you imagine? Like many decades ago, we would have a simple and cheap Renault 5 to move around the city with agility and simplicity, with a very cool retro aesthetic in this case. And then, for those who want a plus of image and greater benefits, that Alpine A290 based on it.
The image with the silhouette of the prototype does not say much either, but it does make it clear that it will have the typical exterior shape of an urban vehicle, with a fairly straight tailgate, and also strong features such as the shape of the front hood, upper roof spoiler and a bulging rear bumper.
