Renault has given one of its best-selling models in Asia a refresh. This is the Kiger, a subcompact SUV whose appealing design and excellent value have captivated customers in India. The facelift, in its Indian version, introduces a revised front end with a cleaner grille , redesigned lighting signature, and updated bumpers. Furthermore, its evolution isn't limited to the exterior; the interior also sees improvements to fit and finish and connectivity with its driver assistance systems. Standard safety across the entire range is also enhanced with improved airbags and active safety features.
The color options now include new shades of Oasis Yellow and Shadow Gray , with the option of a contrasting black or silver roof on higher trim levels. It measures 3,99 meters long, 1,75 meters wide, and 1,60 meters high , with a 2,50-meter wheelbase. The trunk offers 405 liters of cargo space , and ground clearance reaches 20,5 centimeters.
Cabin, connectivity, safety, and driving assistants…
Inside, the overall design remains the same, but a two-tone dashboard and contrasting stitching are added. Top-of-the-line versions can be equipped with ventilated front seats upholstered in synthetic leather, a wireless phone charger , and a sound system with digital tuning.
One of the most significant improvements is in safety equipment. Now, the entire range includes six airbags , Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist, and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard. The package is completed by a tire pressure monitoring system, a Multiview camera with dynamic guidelines , and parking sensors.
Engines and consumption…
The engine lineup remains unchanged with two 1.0-liter, three-cylinder gasoline engines. The naturally aspirated version delivers 72 hp and 96 Nm of torque, paired with either a five-speed manual or an AMT automatic transmission. Above that, the 1.0 Turbo produces 100 hp and 160 Nm of torque with a five-speed manual, or 152 Nm with a CVT automatic transmission.
Renault highlights its low fuel consumption. The naturally aspirated versions achieve around 5,05 liters per 100 kilometers , while the turbocharged versions can reach 4,93 liters per 100 kilometers . As for its platform, this model is based on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance's CMF-A platform , shared with the Renault Kwid and Triber, and the Nissan Magnite.
Will it come to Latin America? Range, prices, and competition…
Given its positioning and pricing, its arrival in Mercosur seems unlikely . In Latin American markets, that gap will be filled by the Kardian, and a move would only make sense if Renault decided to position a crossover between the Kwid and the Kardian . Some media outlets suggest the option of replacing the veteran Stepway , although for now that possibility seems remote.
With this facelift, the Renault Kiger gains a more refined exterior, improved connectivity, and an enhanced safety package , without losing its virtues of mechanical simplicity and low fuel consumption. This update is designed to maintain its competitiveness in India and, barring strategic changes, is not expected to be sold in Latin America.
Its rivals include the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Suzuki Front, and Nissan Magnite . In Latin America, these models are sold at prices that typically range between $20.000 and $25.000 , which limits the Kiger's position outside its home market.
