The Renault 5 E-Tech is getting its first facelift. The brand is already accepting orders in Spain for the updated range, and the car will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show from October 12th to 18th, 2026. The update retains the retro silhouette that has made the electric hatchback so popular.
This time, Renault hasn't focused on increasing battery size, but rather on making better use of the available energy. Range is improved in both main versions , and new equipment and customization options have been added. The entry-level Five version, with 110 hp and a 36,5 kWh LFP battery, will be released later.
More autonomy without affecting battery capacity
The trim level with the 40 kWh battery and 120 hp motor sees its WLTP range increase from 312 to 315 km. It's a small gain, but sufficient for urban use. The 52 kWh, 150 hp version increases its WLTP range from 410 to 430 km , providing more range on the highway. Renault attributes these improvements to optimized underbody protection, new rearview mirrors, and adjustments to the battery electronics.

The range maintains the following combinations: 40 kWh in the evolution and techno; 52 kWh in the evolution, techno, iconic cinq, and Roland-Garros. Later, the Five trim will arrive with 110 hp, a 36,5 kWh LFP battery, and a 305 km WLTP range. It is not yet available for order, and its price has not been finalized.
Equipment, interior and connectivity
The interior remains largely unchanged, but there are some new features. The iconic cinq abandons its yellow mottled upholstery in favor of a blue mottled one. The Qi2 wireless charger is magnetic and cooled , and can restore up to 50% of a phone's battery in one hour. The e-call system now works with 4G networks.
In terms of driving modes, the Smart replaces the Perso system and automatically selects between Eco, Comfort, and Sport based on usage. The Multi-Sense button is gone from the steering wheel , although manual selection remains available on the OpenR Link screen. Connectivity includes 2 GB of data per month for three years, or during a lease with Mobilize Financial Services; this does not apply to traditional financing. Gemini will replace Google Assistant via an over-the-air update, with no date yet announced.
On the exterior, metallic slate gray and desire red are added, along with a gloss black roof, red or gold trim, and Vibrant5 and Hyper5 decals. The techno wheels can be finished in gold on the techno and iconic cinq trims. Orders are now open in Spain, and the new range will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show.
Prices in Spain
The maximum recommended prices, including VAT and shipping, start at €28.085 for the 40 kWh, 120 hp Evolution. The Techno with the same battery costs €30.085. The 52 kWh, 150 hp Evolution is priced at €31.085 , the Techno at €33.085, the Iconic Cinq at €35.085, and the Roland-Garros at €36.585.
Renault announces lower starting prices: €20.170, €21.980, €22.880, €24.690, €26.500, and €27.860, respectively. These figures are subject to financing, promotions, the Annual Percentage Rate (APR), and the Auto+ program , and therefore do not represent the cash price. The brand's press release does not detail all the terms and conditions of these offers.
Demand for the Renault 5 brings back three shifts to Douai
The commercial success of the Renault 5 E-Tech is having an unusual effect on the Douai plant in northern France. The factory has reinstated its three-shift system to handle the backlog of orders. Around 350 temporary workers have been brought in to fill the night shift, which had been operating at half capacity.
The goal is to reach approximately 1.200 units per day, and if demand holds, this could increase to 1.300 or 1.400 cars daily. The Renault 5 accumulated nearly 27.000 registrations in France during the first eight months of 2026, making it the second best-selling electric vehicle in the French market during that period. The Mégane E-Tech, Scénic E-Tech, Alpine A290, Nissan Micra, and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross are also manufactured in Douai.
The downside to this strong sales is the delivery time. Some orders placed now point to early 2027. Renault is working to reduce these waits by expanding production, although it doesn't rule out needing more staff if the pace continues.
The updated Renault 5 electric model combines increased range in the 40 and 52 kWh versions , new equipment details, and a pricing policy that keeps entry below €30.000 before incentives. While the brand finalizes the arrival of the Five with an LFP battery, strong demand in France is forcing the Douai plant to increase shifts and staff to try to shorten delivery times.
