Porsche 911 GT3 Bergsport

From the wooden buildings of the old sawmill in Gmünd, where the first Porsche sports cars took shape in the shadow of the Austrian Alps, to the winding mountain passes that became the natural testing ground for the brand's early models, Porsche's history has always been deeply intertwined with this mountain range. The steep gradients and curves of the Alpine roads served to fine-tune both the road cars and the brand's first racing vehicles.

In homage to this, Porsche presents a special edition of the 911—available in Austria, France, Italy, and Switzerland—inspired by the majestic Alpine landscape and the sheer joy of driving its iconic roads: the GT3 Bergsport . Based on the current 911 GT3 Touring Package and created by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, this model combines pure driving pleasure with design elements inspired by the Alps, a setting where low weight, agility, and pure sensations are rewarded with the ultimate driving satisfaction. Each of the 100 GT3 Bergsport models embodies these qualities.

A limited edition for four countries

Production will be limited to 100 units , and they will only be available in France, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland. This geographical restriction is no coincidence: Porsche teams in these four markets developed the edition jointly, which explains their close connection to the Alpine region. This is a similar strategy to the one the brand has followed in the past with other special editions of the 911 GT3 , rewarding local customers with something the rest of the world can only admire from afar. For enthusiasts in other countries, the only way to experience it will be through photos and videos of these 100 cars traversing mountain passes.

Design inspired by the Alps

The most distinctive element is the new Valleygreen metallic paint , developed specifically for this series through the Paint to Sample Plus program. It's an intense shade that captures the deep greens and earthy tones of the mountains, with golden metallic particles that create a radiant shimmer in the sunlight, evoking the surface of freshly fallen snow. The forged aluminum wheels, painted in White Gold and Ceramica with a satin finish, replace the magnesium wheels typically found in the Lightweight package, offering greater resistance to the demanding conditions of alpine passes. The vibrant orange brake calipers represent the hues of the Alpine glow, the natural phenomenon that illuminates the peaks at dawn and dusk.

Other exterior details include tinted HD Matrix LED headlights and a checkered flag on the hood, inspired by the Porsche 908 Bergspyder . A badge bearing the inscription “GT3 Bergsport” adorns the B-pillar, featuring a Ceramica border and embossed lettering in White Gold against a black background. On the rear decklid, a circular plaque showcases the Bergsport's full color palette, with four peaks representing the four Alpine countries and a winding road against a mountain backdrop.

Interior and equipment

The color scheme continues inside the cabin, where Valleygreen leather adorns the folding carbon fiber bucket seats, part of the Lightweight package. Despite its sporty focus, the GT3 Bergsport retains the rear seats, a decision that prioritizes practicality without compromising on sportiness. Orange decorative stitching and the "GT3" lettering embroidered on the headrests bring the alpine tones to the interior. Orange also appears on the start/stop button, the accelerator pedal, the 12 o'clock marker on the steering wheel, the gear selector pattern, and the Porsche Design GT clock included in the Sport Chrono package.

The mountain inspiration is reflected in the decorative stitching on the doors and dashboard, where black and white thread creates stylized silhouettes of peaks in a cross-stitch pattern. The Light Design package provides additional ambient lighting, while the BOSE surround sound system delivers a high-quality audio experience. Even the key, with its leather case, and the document folder are custom-made to match the GT3 Bergsport's color palette and logos.

Mechanics and behavior

Beneath the bodywork lies the standard 911 GT3 's naturally aspirated 4-liter flat-six engine , producing 510 hp and 450 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. This configuration prioritizes the connection between driver and machine, essential for enjoying mountain roads. The Lightweight package includes carbon-fiber bucket seats, but instead of magnesium wheels, it features forged aluminum wheels, which are more resistant to impacts and adverse conditions. It also incorporates a front axle lift system for tackling steep inclines and a 90-liter fuel tank that extends the range on long journeys.

Premiere at the Arosa ClassicCar

The chosen venue for the world premiere is the Arosa ClassicCar hill climb in Switzerland, taking place on September 3rd. Porsche ambassador Jörg Bergmeister will drive this special edition around the legendary 7,3-kilometer circuit, which features 76 turns and a 422-meter elevation change. Against this spectacular backdrop, the GT3 Bergsport will make its debut, demonstrating the qualities that make hill climb driving so rewarding: precision, confidence, and a close connection between driver and machine.

matching lifestyle collection

As a complement, Porsche Lifestyle has created a range of commemorative products, including 1:43 and 1:18 scale models, caps, thermal mugs, keychains, and sweatshirts featuring GT3 Bergsport motifs. The most striking item is a pair of skis manufactured by HEAD , the Austrian sporting goods brand, scheduled for release in the 2027/2028 winter season. In addition, a special issue of Curves magazine, limited to 1.000 copies, will be published.

With the GT3 Bergsport, Porsche combines the technical prowess of the current 911 GT3 with a design that reflects its close connection to the Alpine region. Far from being a reissue of a past model, this car is a contemporary interpretation of the values that have defined the brand since its inception, forged on the demanding and captivating roads of the Alps. A limited edition that will undoubtedly become a coveted item for collectors and driving enthusiasts alike.
